Measure yourself up against other ATV racers by entering ATV races

Measure yourself up against other ATV racers by entering ATV races

All of us feel the urge to test ourselves out once in a while….in short, every one of us will feel that we’re so damn good at blowing smoke into the faces of our ATV riding buddies that we feel we might as well strut our stuff in front of a cheering crowd! Or is it just me? anyway, just before you start checking out your local ATV racing schedule, here are a couple of things you might want to find out about….the types of ATV racing available.

Usually, what people start out with is with Motocross. It’s also the most watched and popular one in the country. In case you’ve never seen or don’t understand the true definition of what a motocross ATV race is all about, it’s a closed racing around a circuit made out of natural terrain. Which means it is held outdoors either in a natural terrain (like forests, mountains, lakes…etc) with lots of man-made obstacles thrown in to test the Motocross ATV racers’ skills and dexterity. There are many categories for ATV racers of different capabilities. They even have motocross races for kids as young as 4! Perfect for a young ATV Byrd wannabes. Motocross is usually looked at as a wholesome ATVing sport for the whole family.

Another type of ATV racing you can try is the Tourist Trophy which is called TT for short. Before you can start racing in a TT ATV race, you’ll need to go through qualifying heats to see if you’re good enough to get into the main event. Most of the time, you’ll see lots of ATV riders having tons of fun at the qualifying rounds and using the race as a testing ground for aspiring ATV racers. TTs are held on dirt tracks with lots of turns to both sides and oh-so-many jumps!

If you’re the kind who prefers to run around in circles, racing in a Short Track event might be your thing instead. It’s dirt track ATV racing but they’re short….just about 3/8th of a mile. Not too bad, actually. There aren’t a lot of dangers in joining a short track ATV racing event but provides you the chance to measure your own skill against others. As long as you don’t take yourself too seriously unless you’re aiming for a spot on the podium, you’ll get the chance to meet a lot of people and have tons of fun.

People looking for some ass-kicking in the ATV race, you’re probably looking at the Cross Country & Hare Scrambles races! It’s awesome because this is where you get to race with other ATV racers over rugged terrains right smack in the middle of nature. You’ll have to run the laps just like everything else and there’s also a prescribed time. I kid you not, this is not kid’s play because it can wreck havoc with your system if you’re not fit enough or cannot endure the speed of the racing. Endurance is an absolute must unless you have a death wish.

Ice racing is similar to Cross Country….just done on ice. Hey, during those boring winter times, instead of talking to the Christmas tree, take the ATV to one of those cold regions in the country and get yourself worked out racing your ATV instead. The races are usually done in short oval shaped pre-drawn course. This type of ATV racing is still growing and shaping out, so, the rules have been changing a little bit over the years. Promoters try to include elements of a TT race but putting in a bit of turns to the courses.
