All TIREd out

All TIREd out

A friend of mine recently called me to lament about the various choices of ATV tires. He just bought his own ATV after spending the past couple of years loaning my ATV and sometimes from friends. He’s finally decided that ATVing is for him after all – good on ya! Anyway, because of his new reaffirmed passion for ATV, his phone call was primarily about how to buy ATV tires suitable sand terrain. You know, a lot of people are not too informed about how important it is for us to use the right ATV tire for the right terrain and I am not surprised either because it took me a number of years to learn why sand ATV tires are the way they are and why we need ATV mud tires when riding muddy trails.

Of course, when we talk ‘ATV tires’, we’re also talking about purchasing the ATV tires and finding ample storage space for it. Store it in a proper place and the ATV tires can last for a long time. Bob and Kaylee, a husband-and-wife ATVing couple, built a whole ATV tire storage system in their yard…you could do the same thing. Many people have asked me what my opinion was like about buying used ATV tires and my answer have always been the same. If you can avoid, avoid it. If you can, just be careful. The ATV tires acts as a separator between you and the ground – the grip, stability and resistance makes a WORLD of difference. So, if you have to purchase a used ATV tire, remember to take a good look at the tires before parting with your money. Punctures are no fun, I assure you. Neither is slipping and sliding on a huge monster ATV…unless you’re performing a stunt. Buying used ATV tires on the Internet can get pretty tricky too. Before you send in your credit card information, be sure to take a good look at the picture of the ATV tires to see if you’re getting a useless baldie. The best, I’m telling you, is to buy new ATV tires. Better yet, get it from Raceway ATV. (Sorry, couldn’t resist the chance to advertise a little)

As far as affordable sand ATV tires go, I kind of like the Swamp Fox ATV tires. They’re affordable and work fabulously on dirt and snow. It’s stable no matter the terrain I ride, so, I’d give it two thumbs and toes up for quality. The tread is deep enough and comes with dimpled reinforced lugs….MORE BITE, folks! Come to think of it, my second choice would be the V-Trax A/T Dirt ATV Tires with superb performance and low pricing. The price is comparatively lower than some of the bigger brand of ATV tires but the quality is still there. My friend’s got it and been using it for some time now.

Another affordable type of ATV tire would be the Black Tail Sand ATV Tire… not expensive at all, so light it’s literarily feather-weight and deals well with rough as well as sandy terrain.

Whatever your choice is, it makes sense for you to have spares at home or at least use the right type of ATV tire for the right terrain. Small price to pay for safety, don’t you think? So, ride right and ride safe, you hear?
