Wolf Pen Gap ATV Trail

Written by Raceway ATV - the #1 kids Kazuma ATV dealer
Wolf Pen Gap ATV Trail Updated: Thursday, 03 May 2007

Wolf Pen Gap ATV Trail is one-of-a-kind ATV trail – so much so that it took us completely by surprise. Taking the lead from one of our ATV enthusiast fans, we thought this would be an easy ATV trail to ride. The person who recommended this ATV trail to us took the whole family there and they were misled into thinking that the ATV trail was some sort of an ATV training ground for beginners. However, when we took a ride there, we discovered from parts of the Wolf pen Gap ATV Trail to be difficult…to a point that even the best of us were struggling to make it. When you’re trying to organize an ATV trip, go with people who are of the same skill level as you. if not, make sure that there’s an experienced ATV rider who is willing to lead the beginners on this ATV trail while the others can challenge themselves at parts of the trail that is more challenging.

Some parts of the ATV trail is marked closed – there’s a reason for it, so, please do not ride the parts that are marked closed. The Wolf Pen Gap ATV Trail of Arkansas is open all year round but they do close during deer hunting season for safety reasons.

Wolf Pen Gap ATV Trail not only provides beginner and expert ATV enthusiasts a fun time, there’s loads of beautiful scenery to enjoy as well. The people who run the ATV trail are friendly and helpful. When you take an ATV trip there, you’ll find yourself merging with nature as you cruise past nature’s gifts to this Arkansas ATV trail.

The water streaming at this part of Arkansas is as clear as crystals brimming against the shine of the sunlight while the waterfalls will take your breath away. Whip out your camera to take a couple of pictures along the way so that you can remember this amazing ATV trail fondly when you’re older. Most of the people who ride their ATVs here stop at some points at this ATV trail to do some fishing and swimming, so, if you want to, you can stop for a quick clean-up too. when we say swimming, we meant YOU and not the ATVs. Keep the ATVs off the streams. For stream-crossing, there are specific areas where you are allowed to take your ATV across the stream – otherwise, keep off of it.

Mena is the closest town about 9 miles west of Wolf Pen Gap ATV Trail. The great thing about this ATV trail is that there are loads of places for you to rest…for one, the Wolf Pen ATV Campground which offers cabins, tent sites and more. So, settle down at the ATV Campground before heading out. To contact them for further details, give them a ring at (479) 394-0404. There are many other places you can lodge at like the Sugar Creek Lodge ((866) 394-7747 where you can also rent ATVs.

As far as we know, there are very few Forest Service requirements when riding your ATV on this ATV trail. Helmets are not required although we strongly encourage all ATV riders to wear ATV helmets. There’s a rule that you should have to install a spark arrestor on your exhaust for fear of starting a forest fire. And since this ATV trail is pretty remote, there’s no sound limit but do check out for updates in case they have implemented this rule after printing of this article. And ATV enthusiasts should not carry passengers on their ATVs unless the ATV is made for that purpose.

Directions: Take the state route 375 south from Mena for about 8 miles and head on to trailhead CR277. Otherwise, the other trailheads are at 375 and FR38.
