Take it to the trails

Written by Raceway ATV - the #1 kids Kazuma ATV dealer
Take it to the trails Updated: Thursday, 06 September 2007

It’s every parent’s fear….the holidays. No school, kids hanging around all the time, begging to go off on a holiday, asking for money to go to the movies with friends and the likes. Absolutely hell-ish time every time it rolls around. And yet, parents with hectic working schedules yearn for a holiday. Well, as ATV fans, we should have no problems combining school holidays with a personal reward for working so hard so many days of the year – take it to the ATV trails, folks!

Instead planning and saving for an elaborate holiday overseas, it makes sense for us to simply haul ourselves (and the kids, dogs, cats, unwilling spouse and ATV) to the ATV trails. Actually, if you think about it, we are a lucky bunch of folks because our country is blessed with so many exciting ATV trails to ride on when others don’t. although many authorities and politicians make it a point to bash ATV riding as soon as they see the chance to, many Americans still think that ATV riding is a fun, exciting and safe sport to take up as a hobby. Thank goodness for that too because this meant that there’s always somewhere new to ride our ATVs in.

Kids and youth love the outdoors…well, most of them and once they get used to the idea of not having a television to watch when they’re out riding on an ATV trail and camping outdoors, they’ll adapt to it pretty quickly. If you’re trying to hone your kids’ (and unwilling spouse too) ATV riding skills, taking them all to one of the ATV trails is your best bet. Share your joy for ATV riding with the rest of your family members and trust us, ATV riding will take on a new meaning after that. There’s nothing quite like sharing a hobby as a family. Imagine your wife enjoying fly-fishing and you’re both doing it together on a lazy weekend. Yeah….

Now, the thing with an ATV holiday like this is that there is always planning involved. So, find out, first of all, which is the best ATV trail to take the whole family to. Read about the ATV trail to see for whom it is best for and if the trail is too difficult for beginners. Of course, we’re only assuming that you’re going to be riding with beginners or intermediate ATV riders – if you’re not, then you’re free to go anywhere you want without a moment’s hesitation. Find out how to get to the ATV trail. Some ATV trails are really hidden in some obscure part of the country that it might take a little bit more research to find out where they are. We know, that’s the bothersome part of the ATV holiday but someone’s got to do it!

There are many other things to do before you can hit the ATV trails like checking if the ATVs are in good working condition. You need to check if you need to make any changes to your ATV so that it is suitable for the type of ATV trail you’re going to be riding (for example, muddy, sandy, hilly…etc). If you’re not sure, ask a few of buddies for help or take your ATV to a local repair shop, they should be able to give you good advice.

And also check if you have all the proper ATV gear stocked up. Depending on the weather condition, you might need to get some extra ATV protective gears or ATV riding gear before you go….just in case, you need to double-up on the jackets during chilly and windy days at the trail.

So, when school holidays roll around again, don’t moan, get up and go!
