Doing a little math on essential start-up ATV protective gears for kids

This is the kind of question we get all the time because parents new to ATV riding don’t know what to get for their kids to get them started on ATV riding. If we were to be completely honest with you, we’d tell you not to spare a single thing because we’re talking about a kid here. Hey, you can risk your own life but not your kids…we hope we’re not right, anyway.

Well, for a start, we figured you might want a short lineup of all the important things you should get for your kid who is keen on starting a ‘amateur’ ATV riding career on a budget. We’ll be the first to admit that even though ATV riding is not an expensive sport but it can be. Can be….the operative word which is subjective and completely dependent on how much a parent would want to spend.

So, let’s get on with it and the first thing on our list is something that you cannot CANNOT C.A.N.N.O.T ignore….something that protects the noggins. ATV helmet.

•    ATV helmet for kids and youth
Important! Do not let allow your kids to wear adult ATV helmets, cracked ATV helmets (no matter how ‘hairline’ you think the crack is), used ATV helmets, recycled ATV helmets, or worse yet, NO HELMET. Listen, invest on a nice new ATV helmet for your kid if you think he/she is going ride it more than just once a year. It’s really better to be safe than sorry. Kids ATV helmets aren’t at all expensive – let’s take a look at the AFx-FX-10 Kids full face helmet with costs mere $70.95. Or the AFX-FX-12 full-face ATV helmet which is only slightly more expensive at $80.95. For under $100, you can protect your kids noggins – now, that’s what we call a big deal and a great deal too.

•    Elbow and Knee ATV Guards
Under normal circumstance, like when a kid takes on skateboarding, line-skating, snowboarding…etc, parents would be grab every ‘guard’ they can find off the shelves and demand that the kids wear them at all times whenever they’re enjoying the sport concerned. The same thing applies for ATV riding – actually, more so for ATV riding. Scrapes and falls are common in any sport at all and we’re talking about large machines here. Thor Elbow Guards are going for merely $19.95 while Thor Knee Guards is $21.95.

•    ATV Chest Protectors
For adults, you can probably live without chest protectors although we recommend that you get yourself one too. For the kids, we think that you should get one. Thor Quadrant Child Chest Protector costs a measly $54.95. Well worth the pricing and we all know the kind of quality products. Hence, our take is for you to spend the money and save the ribs.

So, let’s do a little math here and see how much you have to spend to keep your kids safe when they ride their ATVs based on the above.

$80.95 for the helmet, $19.95 for the elbow guard, $21.95 for the knee guard and $54.95 for the chest protectors. It all adds up to $177.78. Hey, we’re talking about spending less than $200 for top quality ATV safety gear here!

Now, is that a great deal or what?
