Massachusetts ATVing Fun

Owning an ATV in Massachusetts can be a real kick if you follow the regulations and ride responsibly. You must have your ATV registered through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and you will be given a sticker that must be prominently displayed at all times on your ATV when you are riding. The minimum age for riding an ATV for a child is 10-years of age as well as all ATV riders from the ages of 10-16 years of age must have a licensed and registered adult along for the ride who is also riding an ATV. Anyone riding an ATV must have working brake systems, a noise muffler attached and if you are on an ATV, you must be wearing a DOT approved helmet and eye protection at all times.

There are no National Forest lands in Massachusetts, however there are some great places to ride your ATV such as Beartown State Forest which has 25-miles of trails located on old roads used for logging in the past. Flat Rock is another fun venue to ride your ATV where you can ride over 30-miles of ATV trails with a good amount of climbing to do with your ATV. The Georgetown-Rowley State Forest has under 10-miles of trails for you to ride on your ATV.

If you're looking to join an ATV group to ride your ATV with, check out the following: The New England ATV Association is the State Association of ATVers, you can see their website at : https://neatva.tripod.com . Another group you can check out is the Mass ATV Assocation at https://www.massatv.org/ and Northeast ATVers at https://www.northeastatvers.com .

Massachusetts has a lot of great places to ride your ATV, get out there and hit the trails with your family or your favorite group of ATV riding buddies!
