If you plan to ATV in Wyoming, it's best to know the laws regarding off road vehicle registration before you go.
* ATV riders must purchase an annual $15 registration to operate their vehicles on ATV designated trails. This includes 3 wheelers, small motorcycles, and all other multi wheel vehicles designed for off road use. No other state registrations are acceptable, and Wyoming registration laws apply to state residents as well as visitors.
* All ATVs must display a Wyoming ATV permit and stay on designated ATV trails that are currently declared open for use. Check ahead with local land management offices for a list of approved open trails or visit State Trails website at https://wyotrails.state.wy.us.
* ATV permits are available for purchase from state licensed agents at local ATV dealers, Bureau of Land and State Park offices, and the County Treasurer's office. They may also be purchased from the State Trails Program office. You may contact them at 307-777-7477.
* If any streets or highways have been designated as part of an ATV trail system, then all vehicles displaying the ORV registration sticker may be operated on them even without plates. All operators are still required to have a valid driver's license.
* ATV titles and plates are optional, but the registration sticker is only valid when riding the designated ATV trails.
Knowing and following all the laws governing ATV registration will ensure you have an enjoyable time on the ATV trails in beautiful Wyoming.
