Properly Transporting Your Motorcycle

If you ride a motorcycle, at one time or another you may be faced with the task of having to transport your bike. You want to be sure that you take every precaution when loading your motorcycle for carrying by another
vehicle. It is important that the motorcycle does not hinder the use of all of your signal lights as well as your headlights, brakes and taillights.

For towing your motorcycle in the front of your vehicle, you want to be sure that you follow all of the guidelines that are recommended for this type of transporting. You have to be sure that under no circumstances, any part of your motorcycle sticks out more than three feet beyond the bumper area. For the same method, you also have to be certain that the motorcycle does not reach out further than the left fender at all. As far as the right fender, the
motorcycle should not reach out any further than 6 inches. Both of these guidelines are to obviously ensure safety of other vehicles as well as yourself when you are on the road. Protrusions could be very dangerous and could potentially cause a very severe accident.

When you are connecting your motorcycle for towing, it is key that you secure it to the towing vehicle in more ways than one. It is best that you use added protection to your towing device with some type of a cable or chain. Make sure that the motorcycle does not interfere with your view in any way at all, and you should be off to safely transport your bike.
