Take your ATV to the Dumont Dunes

If you are looking for an ATV experience that is a little different from the usual thing, give the Dumont Dunes a try. ATVers literally tackle the sand dunes for this thrill ride.

Dumont Dunes is a bit remote, so it doesn't get the same traffic as other ATV sites. The sand at Dumont creates an interesting and challenging ATV experience. Sand can be tricky to drive on, so all ATV operators who try the dune will want to review some basic guidelines before heading out.

Every time you ride your ATV, check it over to insure that it is in proper working condition. Review your ATV Owner's Manual for tips and techniques about driving on hills or over various obstacles. Your manual should have information about how to handle the ATV in routine maneuvers and defensive driving to prevent dangerous rollovers.

Some ATV enthusiasts describe the setting at Dumont Dunes as a cross between the summer and winter. Lots of activities are available to go along with the ATV opportunities. Covered in sand, these Dunes provide great fun for families with kids who want to dig and play. Others find their winter snow boards are the perfect vehicle for flying down the hills.

You should be aware that Dumont Dunes is a rustic setting. Be sure to pack in and pack out everything you need for your day of ATV fun. This means you need to bring enough water for all your needs, as well as your own firewood and everything else. There is no trash collection, so ATVers are asked to take all their garbage out with them, and only pit toilets are available.

With white sand, deep blue skies, the slowly meandering Amargosa river, and a backdrop of steep, volcanic hills, the Dumont Dunes is an ATVers dream.
