High Rock Canyon ATV Riding

With a name like High Rock Canyon, you can already imagine the possibilities awaiting you on your next ATV excursion to this awesome recreation area.

If you are into learning a little history to go with your ATV fun, then you will be right at home four-wheeling through the canyon. Captain John Fremont first recorded the Indian trail through High Rock Canyon in 1844. In the years that followed, the trail became a passageway to Oregon. It was also a well used pathway during the gold rush, as people headed to California searching their fortunes. In the twenty first century, this historical trail is not the mainstay it once was, and it offers great opportunities down the road a little less traveled, especially for high adventure seekers like ATV operators.

ATV enthusiasts will find diverse terrain from a dessert oasis, to very rugged and remote gravel roads that take you far away from the crowds. High Rock Canyon is sixteen miles long, and in addition to great ATV experiences, visitors can find amazing hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding as just a few leisure activities.

It is important to note, that there are no facilities in or near the canyon, except for one camp. So be sure to pack in and pack out all the supplies and provisions you need to complete your ATV excursion. High Rock Canyon is known as a beautiful, but rough place, which is one reason it has so much appeal for ATVers.

This is definitely not the place for beginning ATV riders, as the terrain in rough and rugged, to say the least. Even the most experienced ATVers need to take extra care with safety precautions on these trails, or they could easily wind up with tires slashed from sharp rocks or other dangerous mishaps.

Any experienced ATVer who craves adventure and love the excitement of truly challenging terrain, should put High Rock Canyon on their list of must-do ATV opportunities. Such awesome beauty and rugged terrain make it awe-inspiring and definitely a trip you will always remember.
