ATV the Chappie Shasta Off-Highway Recreation Area

The Chappie-Shasta Recreation Area is an amazing venue for the serious ATV enthusiast and the casual rider, too. This site has over 200 miles of roads and trails winding and crisscrossing over and around the 55,000 acre park. It is a true ATVers dream.

ATV operators are joined in the Chappie-Shasta Area by others who enjoy the outdoors, and especially motorcycles, hang-gliding, mountain bike riding, archery and horseback riding. ATV riders can participate in camping and swimming with abundant tent sites available. There are plenty of opportunities for picnicking as well. With so many opportunities, you might even sneak in a little ATV riding during your visit! Better make the trip last a few days to take advantage of every activity.

With 55,000 acres to play in, your ATV thrills will include scenic riding, technical challenges and opportunities to practice your ATV skills. Whenever tackling a new or unfamiliar area, be sure to go slowly and check out the terrain carefully.

If you don't have a lot of ATV experience, avoid the steeper hills until you have had more time to practice. An ATV can be a dangerous piece of machinery in the hands of someone reckless or inexperienced. ATVs should never be operated on too rough, loose or slippery terrain, so be cautious about operating yours after bad weather.

Be sure to check over your vehicle before each ride to make sure that it is in good working order. Regular inspections and maintenance are critical to staying safe and keeping your vehicle in great condition.

If joy-riding on your ATV is just the beginning, and challenging yourself to push the limits and take the big hills and rugged terrain is not enough, you have to check out the competitive events at Chappie-Shasta. These events are not just for ATV operators, but for all kinds of thrill riders.

Clearly, the Chappie-Shasta Recreation Area is a superior location for all kinds of action sports, and ATV riding is at the top of the list in this diverse and exciting location.
