The weather is winding down and the hot days of summer are ending. This is a great time of year to consider making your next 4-wheeling outing with your favorite group of riding buddies into an overnight stay or even a long weekend. Many 4-wheeler trails now allow camping but not directly on the trails, normally there are designated campsites. With the knowledge that you don't have to stop and make your back to the trailhead to pack up your 4-wheeler for the evening will let you ride longer with your friends and pull over when you've had your fun for the day and enjoy a great evening together.
Additional benefits to camping during your 4-wheeler trip are that you not only get to ride the 4-wheeler trails longer, but you also will be riding them safer. If you aren't fatigued, you aren't as likely to make a mistake when you're riding your 4-wheeler and rider fatigue is the on of the largest causes of injuries on an 4-wheeler after riding a 4-wheeler under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Most 4-wheeler trails allow you to have small campfires in the designated camping area. Enjoy a campfire meal with your friend and hash out your favorite 4-wheeler stories. It is important to follow the "Leave No Trace" standards and if you bring it in, bring it out with you. There should be no trace of your campsite when you and your 4-wheeler buddies leave. This applies to campfires too, make sure after the fire is absolutely doused, to scatter the ashes and make sure there is no trace of your having been there.
