Breaking in Your Motocross Boots

Motocross boots are a very necessary piece of equipment when you ride your motocross bike. There are a number of different types of dirt bike & motocross boots made and you need to find the right pair for the type of riding that you do most.

Motocross Boots often look very futuristic and have hard shells around the most common impact areas, normally around the foot and calf. If you like to race motocross or you do a lot of serious off-road riding, these are the boots for you. Investing in a good pair of motocross boots is cheap insurance compared to the price of an emergency room visit and being laid up with a broken leg.

Off Road & Dual Sport Boots are great alterative choices if you don't want to wear motocross boots. Most of these type of riding boots have the features you need for riding off-road such as steel toes, shifter and shin padding, waterproof material and a strong, impact resistant design.

After you purchase your new boots from Raceway, it's a snap to break them in. First, wear them and walk around in your new boots. Another good way to loosen them up for wear is to put a heavy coat of mink oil on your boots and put them in the oven at about 150 degrees for roughly one hour. The oil will be absorbed into the boot and become very pliable.

Another good way is if you're itching to get out of the house. Just put on your new boots and take them for a long ride on your motorcycle. It's a long way to break them in, but definitely one of the most fun!
