The Fun of RC Cars

If you've been looking for a way to get your kids out from in front of the television screen or away from the video game controller, consider taking up RC cars as a hobby with your kids.

You will have a ton of choices for places to race and nearly every town has a group of enthusiasts that have parking lot "meets" where they race, talk and enjoy driving their RC cars together. It's a great way to make new friends for both yourself and your kids.

Another fun activity that you can do with your kids is to make your own RC car together. There are fantastic kits that come with everything to build your own Nitro (fuel powered as opposed to powered by an electrical charge) RC car. You and your children can completely customize your car to represent your family then challenge your friends or neighbors to a friendly competition. It gets everyone out of the house and it's a group activity that everyone can enjoy.

If you're thinking back to the RC cars of the past, they've come a long way since then. The early models of RC cars had a short battery life in the electrical charged variety and the gasoline cars were loud. Both types of RC cars were difficult to control, most lacked a reverse gear and younger children found them very frustrating. The RC cars of today are built with 2 or 4-wheel drive and come with battery cells that hold a charge for a much longer time. The engines in these cars come in the choice of either 2 or 4-stroke engines and the radio systems are easier than ever for children and adults to use to control their RC cars.

A great car for beginners to start with is the 1/18 scale model RC18B Electric Buggy. This is an electric powered RC Car and the car has a smooth steering system and even goes in reverse.

If you're looking for a fun way to spend quality time with your kids, get them out of the house and into the fun of RC racing.
