Cleaning Your Nitro RC Vehicle's Air Filter

Part of the ownership of an RC car or truck is the maintenance. Fortunately, almost all maintenance on your RC vehicle is very simplistic to do.

Learning to clean your RC vehicle's air filter will go a long way towards the life of your car or truck. When dirt and debris from the street or the track get trapped in the air filter, it will reduce the performance of your nitro engine. To keep your RC running at peak performance, just clean the air filter on a regular basis.

You will need the following items handy :
* a bowl of lukewarm soapy water (use dishwashing liquid not soap for the dishwasher)
* paper towels or even better, microfiber towels
* a can of compressed air is optional but very handy
* air filter oil

Then remove your air filter. Most just twist right out. Then disassemble your air filter, lay it out in the order you took it apart if it is your first time cleaning it so you won't have any problems putting it back together.

Then wash all the air filter parts. This includes the foam insert that will collect the most dirt and debris. Rinse everything thoroughly, when you're sure you have all the soap out, rinse it one more time. Dry each part and you can use your can of compressed air to speed up the drying process.

Once dry, oil the insert and reassemble your air filter and you're ready to hit the track with your RC car or truck again.
