Look, with a name of Black Mountain Recreation Park , you'd expect some sort of moody trail that is deserted and absolutely dirty beyond belief. Frankly, that's what we thought too. But what enticed us to try out this trail is the fact that the Black Mountain Recreation Park is located in one of the most scenic areas in the country…smell the fresh air…it's the Appalachian mountains fellow ATV nuts! On the reason behind it being named ‘black', we think it should be ‘green' instead but who are we to argue with the government?

The Black Mountain Recreation Park scenery is an absolute show-stealer – located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountain range, it is within the Evarts, Kentucky area, so, for those who love ATV, live within the area and have never been to the Black Mountain Recreation Park , go go go! There aren't enough reasons in the world for you NOT to go there when it's one of the best there is in the country. Evarts is a small place but with big plans. The only reason why the Black Mountain Recreation Park is so handsomely famous these days is because of the support many of the local residents have shown in a Cancer Patient drive in 2004. The support and dedication of the locals of Evarts touched many but the beauty of the Black Mountain Recreation Park is one big magnet for ATV fans from all over the country. Those who attended the Cancer Patient drive fell in love with the place and came back and every time they came back, they brought others along with them who also fell in love with the place. And within 2 years, Black Mountain Recreation Park became the Disneyland within the ATV community.

In 2005, the Recreation Park was officially launched and within the first year, get this, 20,000 to 24,000 ATV fans go there! It's an amazing feat. The credit of helping make the Black Mountain Recreation Park should be given to the residents who made every single effort to promote the park. They knew that this park could bring instant economic stability. That's why we say that despite the fact that Evarts is a small town, they have big dreams.

If you ask us if this is the BEST ATV recreation park ever, the answer is a no. Maybe it's not…well, it depends on how you like to ride but the truth is that through the 150 miles of trail in the park, there is nothing else quite like it in the United States. Nothing. Although the Black Mountain Recreation Park is not the best but it certainly is the most special. And the most important thing is that through the 150 miles, no one gets left out because through the dark cold mining roads and scenic trails, irregardless of whether you're just a novice rider or a professional one, you'll enjoy it. Count on it.

If you've ridden enough ATV, you'll know for a fact that the people counts for a lot. You don't just ride your ATV and not make friends. The fact that the people in Evarts are so friendly and welcoming that you'd have to adjust your mentality for a little while there. After your AV riding, you can just lounge around with the locals, sip your beers and exchange historical backgrounds…whatever…it counts. Because it is the people who will bring you back – not just the trail itself.

The most amazing thing is that everyone's on an ATV there. Your jeep or the vehicle you came in becomes redundant when you're in a place like Evarts. So, your ATV riding adventure doesn't end when you're done with Black Mountain Recreation Park – nope, no way. You get to cruise around and show off your ATV riding skills to the local kids (in which case, you might be outdone) all through the town.
