Looking for a Place to Ride Your ATV….We’ve Got the Hot Spots!!! Updated: Friday, 13 April 2007

Spring and summer are the most anticipated seasons of the year for ATV riding.  ATV owners wait all winter long, staring at their ATV’s, daydreaming about when it will be warm again so they can get out there and rip up some trails.  The warm weather is now here, the ATV’s are washed, prepped and ready to go, so what’s left to do?  Nothing, except actually find a good place to ride.

Everyone has been asking about where to find ATV trails to ride at and for many it has been an unanswered question…until now.  After some research, we found nine hot spots that you can take your ATV’s to and ride.  The first would be located in Southern California and is one of the largest sand dunes in the U.S.  Better known to many as the Glamis Sand dunes, located in the Imperial Dunes of Southern California.  Next would be the Baja Beach Tours in Baja, Mexico.  This is a great spot for any of you adventurous ATV riders because of its rugged and mountainous terrain.  For some quality trail riding, you can also check out The Winchester Bay Dunes in Oregon.  To get into some heavy duty trail riding, you might want to check out the Paiute ATV Trail located in Utah.  If you are located in Michigan, you can visit the Michigan-Silver Lake Sand Dunes, great for ATV riders of all levels.  For beginner to intermediate riders, you might want to test your riding skills ate the Arizona-Cinder Hills OVH Area.  For some rugged terrain riding, look into the Ohio-Wayne National Forest ATV Park.  The West Virginia-Hatfield McCoy Trail System is great for some real daring trails.  Finally, if you are interested in natural beauty while riding, look into the Wisconsin Iron County Four Seasons Trails.

As with any ATV riding trails or parks, there are certain permit requirements and age restrictions when riding.  For more information on these specific locations, please feel free to contact the following sources:  California Dunes-Glamis (800-278-0165 or www.imperialsanddunes.org ), Baja Beach Tours (866-262-8635 or 949 218 9941), Oregon -Winchester Bay Dunes (541-396-3121), Utah Pauite ATV Trails (www.utah.com or pauite trail.com ), Michigan – Silver Lake Sand Dunes (231-873-3083 or 1-800-44PARKS), Arizona-Cinder Hills OVH Area (520-527-3600 or www.go-arizona.com ), Ohio – Wayne National Forest (bmv.ohio.gov/county/dr_locs.htm), West Virginia – Hatfield McCoy Trail System (1-800-592-2217), and finally, Wisconsin Iron County Four Seasons Trails (715-561-2922 or www.ironcountywi.com ).

Please always remember to be safe and use all necessary precautions while riding your ATV’s.  Wear the proper riding gear to protect yourself in case of an accident and most of all, always remember to have a good time.
