What Do I Need To Know Before Racing Motorcross
You don't need a lot of training to race Motocross. There aren't a lot of necessary requirements - however, commonsense is a huge factor when you want to race motocross. Knowing the basic techniques of when the accelerate and when to brake are great for the beginner to learn basic bike control. But before you even get that far, look closely at your motorcross bike.
First of all, make sure that your bike is the proper size. Your motocross bike should be the right size for your body to insure proper handling and safety when your ride. Additionally, make sure you have a helmet. It should be DOT approved and not used. Helmets are good for one impact only, if the helmet you're using has been dropped from a height or used previously, it is suspect and shouldn't be used. Safety is paramount. Invest in good pants, chest protector, knee pads, elbow pads, and hip pads. One spill on your bike will pay for the pads.
Next, when you're safely suited up and ready to roll. Simply ride over the jumps and gently increase your speed until you're comfortable with them. You'll gain skill and confidence the more you practice. When you're able to keep steady with the other motocross riders when you're doing your practice rides, you're ready to race.
Expect a few spills, expect to make some mistakes when you start out. No one is born knowing exactly what to do and it just takes practice. Don't assume the larger the cc the more power your motorcross bike will have. That's not always the case. The way a motorcross bike's engine is configured can make all the difference. A highly tuned four-cylinder 600 cc machine has much more power than a single-cylinder 600 cc machine. A four-cylinder motorcross bike will also generally be wider and heavier and if you're looking for a more stable ride, that might be the motorcross bike for you.
Alternately, some motorcross bikes use an alternative to the straight-four cylinder and use a V-twin configuration. Most V-twin riders claim that their motorcross bikes ride smoother and are even easier to handle.
If you're looking for a motorcross bike to ride on and off-road, look towards a single cylinder. The weight of the bike will be less and reduces fuel usage and horsepower. If you want a simple fun ride or you're just getting into the sport of motorcross a single cylinder is a great way to learn to ride and control your bike.

Tips On Maintaining Your ATV
To keep your ATV running in tip-top shape, they need just a little maintenance on a regular basis. If you get yourself a routine that works for yourself, it is easy as pie to maintain your ATV and keep it running for years to come.
Your ATV will roll through harsh terrain and collect water, dust, mud and debris. Thanks to fully sealed engines and drive systems that are tougher than ever, cleaning these areas isn't the job it once was.
First off, check the outside of your ATV and make sure your tires have good tread and the air pressure is correct for the areas in which you ride. As little as 1-PSI can make a huge difference. Check all four tires on your ATV. Too little pressure will make your ATV very difficult to steer and hard to handle and too much pressure will result in your tires wearing our more rapidly and a very rough, unpleasant ride.
Check the filters on your ATV. Your air filter is a breeze, simply pull it out and rinse and wash. Yes, it is that quick and easy. The oil filter on your ATV should be changed at least once a year or more if you ride in hot conditions on a regular basis.
Check your oil for condensation. If you ride your ATV in muddy, wet conditions you will need to make sure condensation hasn't happened. It's easy to check. Just dip a clean,clear plastic tie into the inspection plug-hole, if your oil is milky looking, you have condensation. Simply drain the reservoir and refill with clean oil.
You can avoid an expensive repair bill by checking your CV boots on each wheel. If they are extremely worn or torn, go ahead and replace them before your next ride and you'll save yourself a lot of money and grief.
Give your ATV the once over and make sure that you tighten any loose bolts or screws. Replace any nuts that might be missing.
Spray your ATV down with a high pressure wash and get all the layers of dirt off of your machine. Take special care around the radiator and engine and spray both sides of your front brake discs and the single side of the rear discs. A really good trick is to roll your ATV forward a little after spraying your brakes and then spray again to insure all dirt and debris is washed away.
A little preventative maintenance will save you a lot of money in the long run and extend the life of your ATV.

What Gear Should I Get For Motorcross?
Protective gear is as important as the motor cross bike. The gear protects you from flying dirt, debris and the occasional spill that happens when you ride motorcross bikes.
First off, get the best helmet you can afford. It may very well save your life. Don't borrow a helmet, don't use an old helmet. Remember, helmets are good for one impact only and you have no way of knowing that helmet has been impacted or dropped from a height that would compromise the interior. Best bet: get a yourself a brand new full face helmet that will protect your face and chin.
Goggles are oh so important. A lot of dirt gets kicked up when you're riding on a motorcross track and if a tiny bit of dirt enters your eye, it's going to hit with the force of a bullet and can cause damage. This is easily prevented by wearing a good fitting pair of goggles. Make sure they fit your face well and don't slip.

Teaching Good Sportsmanship In Motorcross Racing To Your Kids
The sport of motorcross racing is about learning skills and techniques, challenging yourself to be a better ride and person and most of all enjoying the race. That's the basis of good sportsmanship.
If you don't win, shake the other person's hand and tell them "Good race". There's no reason to have an attitude if you lost. There will be other races and you will have a chance to hone your skills on your motorcross bike to win another race. If someone used a great move to win or did something on their motorcross bike you haven't seen before, ask them to show you that move. You can learn from people who win the race and become a winner yourself.
If someone else is having an attitude about a loss or something they think unfair happened on the motorcross track, don't get pulled into someone else's negativity. How To Store Your Motorcross Bike for the Winter
If you're not going to be riding your motorcross bike in the winter, then you need to store it. Improper storage is one of the fastest ways that motorcross bikes get ruined or need parts replacement. To keep your motorcross bike in good working condition, just store it properly and in the spring it will be ready to take you riding again.
Getting your motorcross bike ready for winter storage is easy. First make sure you have a cool, dry place to store your bike. A basement with no water seepage or your garage are good bets.
First empty the oil. Just warm up your engine and drain all the oil out. After the reservoir is drained, refill with clean oil. Remove the battery of your motorcross bike and store in a dry, warm place. Put papers underneath the battery as it can be corrosive if it happens to leak. It's a small possibility, but you can save yourself a lot of headaches by just preparing. Next, take out the spark plugs, put engine oil in the cylinders and then replace the spark plugs. Drain your gas tank and carburetor bowls.
Next, protect the exterior of your motorcross bike and wax all the painted areas. This will keep the surface protected and keep the paint bright. Prop up the back wheel of your motorcross bike and put the wheel up on a wooden or cinder block. Put a piece of wood or thickly folded cardboard under the front wheel so it is not resting directly on the ground.
You can finish off your Winter storage by covering your bike with a good quality car cover to further protect your bike during storage. When you're ready to ride in the spring, simply uncover, put the battery back in place, fill your gas tank and you're ready to ride your motorcross bike!

Maintaining Your Motorcross bike
If you're going to have a motorcross bike, you can save yourself a lot of money by learning to do basic maintenance and care of your bike yourself and thus avoid bigger mechanical problems down the road which will wind up costing you a lot of money and time lost on the motorcross track.
First of all, have your uses manual handy that came with your bike, if you don't have one or you bought a used bike and wasn't given one. There are a number of places online to get users manuals. You need to see what the proper fluid levels and any nuances for your particular brand of motorcross bike.
First off, after you have read the manual, make sure the proper amount of liquid is inside your motorcross bike's engine. Make sure that you have the proper oil/gas mixture for your bike's engine if it is a 2-stroke.
Motorcross bikes vibrate. Nuts and bolts can get loose. Give your motorcross bike the once over and tighten up any loose bolts and notice if any screws are loose or missing. Also, clean the air filter after each ride. Simply remove, rinse off and replace.
Pay special attention to your drive chain. Make sure it is well lubricated with no dry spots. It should be able to flow. If you don't lube it on a regular basis, it will stretch.
Another point you need to check is your motorcross bike's tire pressure. If you have too little your bike will be hard to control and if you have too much your bike will have too much bounce and again be difficult to control. Check your manual for proper tire pressure for your model of motorcross bike.
A little preventive maintenance will keep your motorcross bike running sharp for years to come and save you a lot of money in getting parts fixed.

Learning to Fall is Important when Racing Motorcross
You might not believe it if you're just starting out in motorcross racing, but learning to fall is just as important as learning to ride and control your motorcross bike.
First off, when you're losing control of the bike and it's obvious that you're not going to regain control, don't fight it. Quickly assess which way the bike is going to go and literally roll with it. You will save yourself from serious injury on your motorcross bike.
If you are making a turn on your motorcross bike and realize you have leaned too much, swing your leg that is under the bike closest to the ground under and away from the bike, and let go of your bike. Try to roll if you can to absorb some of the impact.
If you lose control of your motorcross bike when you're making a jump, push the bike away from your body and let go. Some people move their hands in a counter clockwise direction in big circles to push some of their body weight away from the bike and slow down a little. This doesn't work any more than flapping your arms allows you to fly, but as long as you push the bike away, you should be safe. Once again, try not to land solid, attempt to roll your way out of a fall whenever you can.
If someone falls in a race, a caution flag will come up on the track. Slow down as soon as possible to avoid hitting anyone or anything. If you have fallen on a track, get yourself out of the way as quickly as possible.
No matter what, if you're in a falling situation, let your bike go. There is no bike worth risking serious injury over. You bike and bike parts can be replaced, body parts take a long time to heal. Make sure you're wearing the latest safety gear and learn to fall, so on those small occasions it happens, you know what to do.

What do I need if I want to ride my ATV on Roads in Wyoming?
Wyoming is ATV country as most of the terrain is rough and rugged and just made for your ATV. Wyoming has some unique statutes that apply to ATVers and you should be thoroughly aware of them before riding your ATV.
Your ATV must be 50 inches or less in width and have an unladen weight of 900-lbs or less and have a minimum of three low pressure tires. This fortunately accommodates most modern ATVs and almost ATV you purchase today will more than meet these base requirements for riding your ATV on the roads in Wyoming.
Wyoming has a State ORV Program which has worked in conjunction with the Forest Service, BLM, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the Office of State Lands and the Wyoming Division of State Parks and Historic Sites have worked to identify not only roads, but also trails and open areas for you to ride your ATV upon.
The rules for driving your ATV on roads is if the vehicle has a motor vehicle license plate it may be operated upon any roadway in Wyoming and an ORV permit is NOT required. If the vehicle displays only the Wyoming ORV Permit, then it may be operated only upon those road ways enrolled in the State ORV Program. This applies to both residents and non-residents of Wyoming.
Also, you must have a valid driving license in order to operate your ATV or ORV on any of these roads or trails regardless of whether or not you are enrolled in the ORV Program.
While the following are not rules or regulations for riding your ATV in Wyoming, they do ask that you adhere the following ethics when you ride:
1. Do not stir up, rally or drive game animals or birds with your ATV.
2. Do not cross shoulders or embankments maintained by a government entity on your ATV.
3. Do not leave any designated ATV trail on any federally managed lands.
4. Do not unreasonably damage the land, wildlife, or vegetative resources with your ATV.
Knowing these simple rules and good common sense will make for a great time riding your ATV in Wyoming.
