California Camping and ATVing: Glamis Dunes
Fun and exhilaration await you at the amazing Glamis Dunes! At the Dunes you can find some of the most beautiful camping anywhere in California as well as a great open off-road area for some insane ATV action. This is a great spot to go and relax with a ride along with friends in the beautiful sunshine.
Having been coined as some of the greatest sand on earth, the Glamis recreational part offers some really nice areas for open off-roading. These sand dunes have even become famous, having been the backdrop for several commercials as well as major motion pictures. These dunes usually see thousands of people who go there to have unlimited fun in the beautiful sand on their ATVs and dune buggies. During some of the larger and more popular weekends, you can usually expect up to 35,000 people or more.
One of the reasons that Glamis is so popular with riders would have to be the huge bowls it offers. A couple of the feature hills in the area are Competition Hill and Oldsmobile Hill, which also features the Glamis Beach Store for any necessities you may need to purchase.
These dunes are some of the largest within the entire United States. They reach all the way to Mexico from their starting point about 20 miles east of Brawley, California. That is over 40 miles distance! Lots of people travel to the dunes all year round, however you should be prepared for some whopping temperatures in the summer months. The only true winter-related weather problem is the occasional blowing sand and the annual rainfall is only about 2 inches.
With over 150,000 open acres for your riding pleasure, this is a must-stop spot if you are ever in this area of California. Grab your ATV, some camping gear and some great friends and you are in for a wonderful time at Glamis Dunes.

Avoid Wetlands While ATVing to Preserve ATV Riding Rights
When riding your ATV, try hard to avoid wetlands. What is a wetland? A wetland is ground that is constantly covered by shallow water, or with saturated soil. Wetlands are essential to nature, and provide the environment with important wildlife habitat, flood and erosion control, a kind of natural water purification, and more.
So, how do you tell when you're seeing a wetland? Some types of vegetation, such as marsh grass or cattails, are good indicators that an area is a wetland. However, there are some things that may look like wetlands that aren't, such as a puddle of rain on a hard surfaced trail. This is probably not a wetland, but be cautious just the same.
A large percentage of ATV trails have wetlands in their forests, so be careful when you ride, and keep your ATV on the trail. Most ATV trails try hard to avoid wetlands, but occasionally you will come upon one. Do your best to completely avoid the wetland.
Even if you don't care about protecting the forest or the environment, it is in your best interest to avoid wetlands while riding your ATV. If you abuse the wetlands or the forest in general with your ATV, you may loose the privilege of riding in that trail at all. Many ATV trails have been shut down over the years due to extensive abuse to the forest by riders.
If you do not respect the wetlands and the forest as a whole while you ride on it, you will not have anything to ride on after awhile, so please be respectful of the land and the other riders who love enjoying the same ATV adventures you do. And besides, if you are caught going off trail and violating the forest with your ATV, you could face some serious legal repercussions. So remember: Be safe, have fun, and respect the forest while riding your ATV.

ATV Rules and Regulations for the The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest
The rules and regulations for riding your ATV at the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests are dictated by motor vehicle laws determined by the State of Georgia. Anyone driving an ATV on these trails must follow these rules and must also have a valid driver's license. The only exception to this rule is a few Forest Service roads that have been specifically designated by the Forest Supervisor. To guarantee the safety of the driver, these areas are specially designated and the person driving must be accompanied by an adult who has a license. Unlicensed vehicles are allowed to be used on certain trails and in the designated areas, but these vehicles should never be driven on any public or Forest Service road.
All ATVs must stick to the designated trails, roads and other areas that are marked specifically for ATV use. Some of the trails are restricted to motorbikes only, whereas other trails mainly allow ATV and other off road vehicles. These restrictions exist both for safety reasons and to cater to the specific needs of each type of vehicle. While on the trail, remember not to operate your ATV in a manner that disturbs or damages the land or wildlife. If you violate the land, you may possibly face a fine of $500 or a sentence of up to six months in prison.
Some other things to consider while riding your ATV at the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest: Make sure your ATV has an effective and operating spark arresting device.Your ATV must not create a noise while you are traveling 35 miles per hour or less in excess of 86 decibels at 50 feet or 90 decibels at 50 feet traveling over 35 miles per hour. Ride your ATV on forest roads cautiously and safely, and respect the rights of others and do not shortcut or switch-back while in the forest.

Discover ATVing in Australia at Discovery Bay
If you are looking for an ATV experience that is different and exciting, Discovery Bay is the perfect spot for you. Covered with huge sand dunes and surrounded by coastal Heathland, Discovery Bay is ideal for ATV riders who love rolling through the desert sand, but have wanted to escape the normal terrain that they are used to.
Outside of the somewhat challenging sand dunes and hills there isn't a large amount of things to do with your ATV at Discovery Bay, but there are plenty of non ATV experiences you could enjoy, such as observing the remains of Mt. Richmond; an inactive volcano said to be over two million years old. You could also visit Lake Mombeong, Lower Glenelg National Park, and many other places in the area to get a real look at the beauty of the beach. There are various hotels and camping sites in the area, so you can fall to sleep while taking in the beauty of the ocean and the environment around it.
While riding your ATV on the sand, remember to adhere to the same rules you would while in the forest trails you are used to. Do not drive your ATV while intoxicated, and remember to be courteous to any people and animals that you interact with. The area is home to some wild animals, particularly kangaroos, so be sure to be respectful when you pass them with your ATV, and do not harm or feed them in any way. Also, don't blast any loud music from your ATV, because it could disturb both the other people trying to savor the beauty of the ocean, and it could possibly frighten the wildlife in the area. Be respectful of the land, and do not litter. Treat the land good and leave it looking better than it did when you showed up. Be safe, respectful, and have fun riding your ATV.

The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest ATV Safety Tips:
Safety is an essential part of the ATV riding experience. If you can't ride safe, then you shouldn't ride at all. Here are some safety tips for riding your ATV while at the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest: First, make sure that you file a trip plan with friends, family, or another responsible adults, and follow it exactly so someone will know where you are and who to contact if something goes wrong. While riding your ATV, take a break every now and then to rest and check your ATVs tires, chain and fuel level just to be on the safe side. As you should with any outdoors adventure, remember to carry a first aid kit, and make sure you know how to tend to minor injuries. Be sure that you know where the nearest hospital is in case of a serious injury, or possible snakebite.
While riding your ATV, remember to fend off flying rocks, twigs, and mud by wearing the necessary boots, gloves, helmets, and eye protection. Be prepared to walk incase your ATV has a mechanical error. Carry some basic tools and spare parts and know how to make field repairs on your ATV, or travel with someone who does. Travel in a group so that if something bad happens, you will have people to help you. Remember to carry a topographic map and compass incase you get lost.
Do not race your ATV on the trails and roads, because there are various unseen dangers, such as ditches and logs, that could seriously injure you if hit head on at a high speed. Drive responsibly and tailor your speed to fit the situation. Do not go close to the areas around waterfalls, and do not try to climb on them. The rocks around the falls are extremely slippery, and fatal accidents have occurred due to this. Remember to follow these safety tips, and have a fun and safe ATV experience!

ATVing Australia: Edge of Outback
Australia has some wild ATVing trails and one of the best is the Edge of the Outback. There is good, well graded road to drive you ATV upon and it takes you through mainly meadow lands.
There are kangaroos in the area that have no fear of ATVers, don't be surprised if you make a new friend that is ultracurious about your ATV and you as you ride along. Be aware during drought conditions, kangaroos can lose their eyesight and become a danger to both you and themselves, if you see a roo in the distance, steer clear. You will also probably encounter feral goats, they don't have the best temperament, keep your distance on your ATV.
The ATV trails have dense brush on both sides at most points. At one clearing you will arrive in the town of Mt Hope, which boasts a store, petrol, a pub and a gold mine. The Royal Hotel, on the crest of the hill is the new Royal. The old one burnt down some years ago, leaving only its huge, concrete bar which extends down below the ground to form the cellar walls. Not wanting to waste anything, the pub was rebuilt around the bar.
After leaving Mt. Hope you will be crossing a grid, the vegetation increases in density as you enter Yathong Nature Reserve. Stay on the marked ATV trails. Please be aware that Nature Reserve's in NSW have no public access, written permission essential to have and have it on your ATV to show in case you need it.
You'll come up on a dam and there may be sheep and resident wildlife grouped around the water. You will see the ATV trail picks up again on the other side. If you wish to camp and loop back the next day on the same ATV trails, primitive camping is allowed.

California ATVing and Camping: Dury / Ershim
When in California and you're looking for some great places to ride your ATV. The Dusy/Ershim trail might be the answer to your quest. This 33-mile long ATV trail has a lot to offer up for a day or so of fun ATVing.
It is basically a pathway between two wilderness areas in the Sierra National Forest of central California. With John Muir to the East and Dinky Lakes to the West, this Southern corridor is the only motor vehicle route through the National Forest.
As with all National Forest managed lands make sure you have your ATV permit displayed in a prominent place and you have a spark arrestor and muffler in place on your ATV.
Most people start this ATV trail at the Southern end, but due to the crowds you may want to begin in the North at Kaiser Pass.Your ATV will be traveling up on a small slope to about 6,000 feet in elevation when you reach Shaver Lake. This is the last place you can get supplies for your ATV ride. If you need it, pack it on here.
If you need bathroom facilities, in something unusual for most national forest managed lands, these ATV trails have facilities available at Badger Flat's. If you want to set up camp in these areas, it is permissible. Park your ATVs and have a great night. Just remember, there are no trash bins here, if you bring it in with you, bring it out.
When you reach the Badger Flats area, you will have climbed in your ATV to about 8,000 feet and the air can seem thin to anyone that isn't use to it. Rest often if you aren't used to riding your ATV in this type of climate.

Arizona Camping and ATVing: Highway of the Devil
Highway of the Devil is a challenging ATV trail. This area earned its name by taking the lives of travelers, even before Columbus discovered America, this section of land which is located across bare desert lands was enticing travelers into traveling its pathways as a shortcut to get to the Gold Rush in California and other Western destinations and met their ends. You will still see grave sites that still mark ended journeys from years gone by.
Devil's Highway has been open to motorized vehicles since 1915 and the Model T Fords bogged down in the sand, overheated, had to be pushed and pulled, and even had to be left behind when they broke down. In present day, the vehicles navigating these ATV trails are up for the challenge, but it is a challenge indeed for you and your machine.
Certain areas are presently closed off as 4x4s have caused a lot of terrain damage on the ATV riding areas, pay close attention to the signs and you should be fine on your ATV ride.
There are a few rules and regs to know before riding your ATV in this area. All roads except the Devil's Highway are closed to public use. Firearms are prohibited in all areas. Charcoal fires are permitted, wood fires are not. Camping is permitted anywhere along the highway except within one quarter mile of a water source. Collecting plants or animals is absolutely forbidden. Treasure hunting, collecting rocks or minerals, and littering are all major offenses and will end your day of ATVing quickly.
One of the best aspects of Devil's Highway, besides the challenging ride is The Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, which has a motorized corridor right through the middle serving as open access to those of you who want to see wildlife in their natural habitat. Remember this is a refuge, a muffler for your ATV isn't mandatory yet, but probably will be. Call before you ride your ATV in area to make sure.

The Rubicon 4WD / ATV Trail, California
The Rubicon in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is a great place to ride your ATV. This is one of the most well known and traveled trails in the world. It is also one of the most difficult. On a scale from one to ten, it is a solid ten.
If you don't have experience driving your ATV on hard to manage terrain, this is not the ATV experience you are looking for. Elevations average 6-7,000 ft. The climate is typical of its location in a high mountainous area as the temperatures may be hot during the day and freezing at night.
The scenary is absolutely spectacular, but keep an eye open, you will be definitely be dodging boulders as rolling rocks are a very common occurrence.
These are multi-use trails and you will encounter a lot of other traffic such as mountain bikers, other ATV's, and backpackers as well. The ATV trail itself can be completed within two days but taking three so you don't rush and you get to take in the beauty of the area is wholeheartedly recommended.
A great place to camp before you get going on your ATV riding tour of this area is at Bassi Falls off of Icehouse Rd. The Bassi Falls entrance is unmarked so you will need to get directions from the ranger station.
Please note if you're going to camp out and you plan on making a fire of any sort, you need to obtain a fire permit. They are available at the ranger stations and free of charge.
This is an awesome trail system to ride your ATV on if you're experienced, you will be guaranteed the best ride of your life!

The ATV Trails of Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Part 2:
In the first article about the ATV Trails of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest we discussed two of the great ATV spots in the area. In this article you will learn about some of the other ATV trails that the district has to offer as well.
Located in Eatonton, Georgia, the Town Creek Bike Trail spans 15 miles and is suitable for both ATVs and Motorcycles. To get to the trail, go north on Penfield Road from Greensboro to Shiloh Church. Take a right onto dirt county road and follow it until it ends. Turn left on another dirt road, pass the Forest Service Road 1241, and you will see a sign marking the trail.
Another good trail to ride on is the Moates Knob ATV Trail, which is open to both ATVs and motorcycles. This trail is a spur off of the Oakey Mountain ORV trail, and the directions are the same. Other good ATV trails in the area include the Anderson Creek ORV Trails and the Whissenhunt ORV Trails, both of which are located near Blue Ridge, Georgia.
While you are riding your ATV on these trails, remember to respect the land and the wildlife. Do not leave the trails for any reason, do not litter and do not harm any of the wildlife in the area. Stay out of the wetlands and remember to follow basic safety precautions. When riding your ATV, remember to fend off flying rocks, twigs, and mud by wearing the necessary boots, gloves, helmets, and eye protection.
Don't race your ATV on the trails and roads, as there are lots of unseen dangers, such as ditches and logs, that could seriously injure you if hit head on at a high speed. Drive responsibly and tailor your speed to fit the situation. Also, remember to always carry a first aid kit with you and know how to treat basic wounds. Have a fun time riding your ATV in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, and remember to be safe.

The ATV Trails of Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Part 1:
There are many ATV trails available to ride in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest area. In this article we will talk about a couple of these trails, and give you all the info you need to know about them.
The first ATV trail we will talk about is the Locust Stake ATV Area. Located in Clarkesville, Georgia, this area spans 17 miles of trails and is suitable for all types of off road vehicles that do not exceed 480 in width. The ATV trails in this area range for very difficult to easy, so remember be careful you pick the right trail to suit your ability. Remember to stay on the designated trails at all times, and to respect the land. To get to Locust Stake ATV Area, take GA Hwy. 365 North from Cornelia for 10 miles. Turn left on Rock Road. Travel a small distance until you see the first gravel road on the right. Make a right and drive for a mile and a half until you see the parking and unloading area on the right.
The other ATV trail well cover in is the Oakey Mountain ORV Trail. Located in Clayton, Georgia near Lake Rubun and Lake Burton, the Oakey Mountain ORV Trail spans 6.2 miles and is suitable for ATVs with an axle width of less than 48, as well as trail bikes and other off road vehicles. The trail is not looped, thus traffic is two way.
Due to many blind curves on the trail, it may not be the best trail for the beginning ATV rider. To access the Oakey Mountain ORV Trail's parking lots from Clayton, go west on Hwy. 76 for about seven miles. Make a left on Charlie Mountain Road until it deadends. Then turn right on the Bridge Creek Road for 2 miles until it deadends at Lake Burton Dam Road. Stay right for until you reach the entrance roads on the left and right sides.

Upper Tellico ATV Riding in North Carolina
If you are an experienced ATV rider looking for some really rough and rugged terrain, then the ATV trails at Upper Tellico are for you. The majority of the ATV trails found in the area are very rocky with lots of obstacles to overcome such as huge tree roots, large mud puddles and steep slippery areas. Though there are some trails in the Upper Tellico area that aren't quite as tough, for the most part this terrain is for seasoned ATV enthusiasts looking for a real challenge, not for younger or less experienced riders. These are definitely not trails suitable for beginners. In fact, these trails are considered by many to be some of the harshest ATV trails in America.
The Upper Tellico ATV/ OHV area can be found inside the Nantahala National Forest, which is a brief drive from Murphy, North Carolina in the southwestern part of the state, where it joins with Georgia and Tennessee. The name of the area is said to be an indian word that means "land of the midday sun".
Over 40 miles are contained within the trails at Upper Tellico, which are split into 12 numbered trails, ranging in levels of difficulty. Some of the harshest trails in the system are trails number 11 and 2, which require you to ride your ATV at an extremely low levels in order to overcome the extremely hard to overcome rocks and nasty drop offs. These are very dangerous trails and should be used only by people with an extensive amount of experience, because fatal accidents are very possible.
For those looking for a challenge that is safer, try trails number 8, 10, 3, and 4. These are very tough trails, but the chance of death is much lower than the previously mentioned riskier trails. The only trail here that is remotely appropriate for beginning ATV riders is trail number 1, but though it is a dirt road, it's steep cliffs still take it out of the range of most beginners. Have fun riding your ATV at Upper Tellico, and be sure to be safe.

ATVing Australia: Victorian High Country
If you're looking for a challenge to conquer on your ATV, look towards Australia, specifically the Victorian High Country area.
The Victorian High Country has an abundance of wildlife you are likely to meet when you're riding your ATV. Snakes and large insects especially, the flies are particularly attracted to bright colors and many species bite. A favorite stop for most ATVers is Big River which is a popular area for camping.
Frenchmans Spur Track is an easy climb for most ATVers as it is a well used and well graded track. You will be rewarded with a beautiful over the Big River valley as it stretches out to the North.
Shortly thereafter there is an ATV trail that leads off from a helipad and has a large amount of scratchy over growth. If you're not wearing heavy long sleeves, you might be sorry you took this ATV route.
There is water in the area, so be sure you know how to ford it correctly or you are liable to get stuck. There are no bog holes in the area so you don't have to worry about encountering a lot of mud on your ATV. If you follow the ATV trail in the area of the Springs, you will come upon a major dirt road, follow this road and you will find a small waterfall.
Next you will encounter McAdams Gap where you will need to climb your ATV over an short embankment and then turn off at the Goulburn State Forest sign. This rocky, graded track leads up to Mt Matlock Fire Tower. This is one of the tallest towers around at around 50 meters. The current metal tower replaced the shorter wooden one a couple of years ago.
If you wish to spend the night on these ATV trails, Comet Flats has a camping area and there's nothing like sleeping under the stars after a great day of ATVing.

Wambaw Cycle and ATV Trails in South Carolina
The Wambaw Cycle and ATV Trail starts off at the Round Pond Trailhead and the sandy trail will lead you to a lush forest of fragrant pines. The trail spans about 40 miles and is shaped like a figure 8. While you ride your ATV at the Wambaw Cycle and ATV Trail you will notice sinkhole ponds and bald cypress, and are likely to notice wildlife, mainly deer and turkey. The trail is designed both for motorcycles and ATVs under 50 inches wide, as well as bike riders and hikers, so remember to be courteous to anyone you pass.
The Wambaw Cycle and ATV Trail is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but note that a working taillight and headlight are needed for night riding. It costs $5 to get a daily pass to the Trail, or $50 yearly. The trailhead contains both a picnic shelter and toilets. While riding your ATV on the trail during hunting season, remember to wear bright clothing, and it is recommended that you do not ride the trail when it is extremely wet. When it is warm, insect repellent will probably be needed.

Drive about 5 miles and turn a right on S-10-98 and continue 5 miles to Round Pond Cycle Trailhead on the left. When you are riding your ATV or motorcycle at the trail, remember to be respectful to the land and the wildlife that inhabit it. Do not litter or drive off of the track, and do not under any means harm any animals. If you see any litter, pick it up and throw it away yourself to better preserve the natural beauty of the area. Be respectful to the land and have a safe and fun ATV experience.

ATVing Australia: Wedding Mountains
All of Austrailia is ATV heaven. Its rugged terrain and vast plains make it ideal ground to ride your ATV upon. The Wedding Mountain range is bordered by heavily forested slopes and some great ATV trails and legend has it that gold is buried in this area!
There is a camping area at the southwestern foot of the Weddins. It's not quite primative camping, There are fireplaces, a couple of picnic tables in the shade of the native cypress and pit toilets all provided for your use. There is even a rainwater tank, but go easy on it. There isn't much to go around. Best to pack in your own water on your ATV.
The beginning of the ATV run is on extremely dry and flat plains that are just below the Weddins. Then a graded dirt road will take you into the Wedding State Forest which is at the foothills of the Weddin Mountains. This forest is open woodland, and you'll mainly see cypress pine, stringybark and ironbark along the ATV trails. There are a number of bush camping areas that are permissible to set up primitive camping at, remember though, if you pack it in on your ATV, pack it out.
The ATV trail ends in the town of Grenfell. It's a small place with not much more than a bank building, 5 hotels and friendly residents. One of the hotels here, The Railway, has been used in a number of films. If you want to park your ATV for the night and spend it in comfort it will cost you merely $12 per person, $15 if you want breakfast added onto that tab.
Weddins is an easy ride with a scenic view and great ATV riding opportunities. If you're looking for an pleasant get away for you and your friends, take a tour of the Weddin Mountains ATV trails.

West Virginia ATV Trails: Hatfield-McCoy Trail System
Located in the beautiful mountains of the Appalachia in southern West Virginia, the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System offers challenging ATV trails that span over 500 miles, and includes a breathtakingly beautiful view. The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System is one of the most popular and developed ATV trail systems in America. New ATV trails are constantly being built, with the end goal being to have the system cover a whopping 2,000 miles. The system offers just about every type of terrain, and has trails suitable for beginning ATV riders and experienced ones alike. The system allows other types of traffic, such as hikers, dirt bikes and horses, so be sure to be courteous to anyone you pass.
While you ride your ATV at Hatfield-McCoy, remember to practice these riding tips: Always respect the land and environment. Do not go off of the trail, do not harm the land, and do not litter. Actually, it's a nice gesture to pick up any litter that you see, if possible. If you want to keep experiencing the beauty of nature, then it is in your best interest to keep it clean. Also, don't blast any loud music from your ATV while on a trail. This can be very distracting and it ruins the peaceful nature experience for others. Always remember to be courteous to all other riders on the trail, and be respectful as possible
Never, ever ride your ATV while under the influence of alcohol or any other mind altering drug, because you could put yourself and others in serious danger. If you want to drink, wait until you get home. Also, don't show off or mess around while riding your ATV, and don't try to ride trails that are beyond your ability, because you may get hurt. This is especially true for beginning riders.
You may feel the need to be adventurous and immediately explore harsher terrain, but wait until you are ready for it. Becoming a skilled ATV rider takes time and experience. If you jump into a situation you can't handle, you could seriously hurt yourself. Take the time to know and understand your ATV, and ride with experienced riders as often as you can. With a lot of effort and practice, you will build the experience and knowledge needed to handle the more intense trails.

Arizona Camping and ATVing: El Camino del Diablo
El Camino Del Diablo is a very challenging trail for you to take on in your ATV. These trails are comparable to those monster ATV outings in Australia.
El Camino Del Diablo translated from Spanish means "the devil's highway", and is one hundred plus miles of sandy, single track trail that winds through the Sonoran desert zone of Arizona. When you ride this ATV trail you will be taken through a National Wildlife Refuge, a National Park, within a mile of the international border with Mexico, and through the middle of a military live bombing range.
You will need three permits to ATV the full length of El Camino: a permit to cross the Barry Goldwater Military Bombing Range, a second one to traverse the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, and a third to enter the Organ Pipes Cactus National Park.
Getting the permits to ride your ATV in these areas is easy and can be accomplished in one trip. Be aware when you get the permit to ride across the bombing range, you are signing away any responsibility the military has towards your safety on your ATV. You will need to provide three forms of identification, and signed the long and complicated form in triplicate.
You will see a lot of vegetation in the form of cholla cactus and prickly pear cacti grow in abundance in this area. Steer carefully on your ATV when riding by, those stickers go out further then you think!
There have been tales of people riding on the military part of this ATV trail and being used as live targets for laser bombs. They kick up a lot of dust, dirt and debris. Be aware this is an ATV ride not for the faint of heart.
After you cross the Tinajas Altas Range, you will go through a narrow pass and come out at the Cabeza Prieta wildlife refuge. The trail narrows and leads to the lumpy, rocky Pinacate lava flow, a dense black lava that runs south down into Mexico. Reduce your speed and drive slowly as lava can damage your ATV tires are higher speeds.
This is a truly intense area to ride your ATV and one you will never forget. Next time you're looking for the ride of rides, check out El Camino Del Diablo.

South Dakota State Parks ATV Rules and Regulations
When riding your ATV in the South Dakota State Parks, it is important that you know an abide by the rules and regulations that the park enforces. The first of these rules is that Park visitors must license both South Dakota and out-of-state ATVs. You must also obtain a valid park entrance license to enter the parks as well. If your ATV is not licensed, or doesn't have a park entrance license, then the ATV must stay in the truck or the trailer that you brought it in. Also, every ATV has to be equipped with a functional mirror, horn, headlight, brakes, brake lights and a license plate. All people riding on ATVs must be at least 14 years of age, or possess a valid driver's license. Visitors to the park can only ride their ATVs on the designated park roads in South Dakota state parks and on the recreation areas or in the state ORV/ ATV area. ATV riders are not allowed to ride their ATVs on paved trails or on beaches or shorelines. You must wear eye protection while on public/park roads unless your ATV has a sturdy windshield, and all riders under 18 must legally wear a helmet while in the parks.
The only exception to any of these rules is when you are riding at the Oahe Downstream ORV/ ATV area, which does not require ATVs to be licensed, and doesn't require a park entrance license either. However, all other rules and regulations apply while in this area, and riding is permitted only on the designated areas that are inside the ATV area. When riding your ATV at the South Dakota State Parks, remember to obey the rules and have fun. And while your there, you may want to check out some of the other fun opportunities that the parks offer, such as hiking and biking, golfing, swimming on the beach, fishing, and shooting at rifle ranges.

South Dakota Camping and ATVing: Oahe Downstream Recreation Area
The Oahe Downstream ATV Area contains about 400 beautiful acres of lush, hilly grassland, breathtaking river bluff and vegetated shale slopes that you are free to roam in and explore with your ATV. The boundaries in the area are marked but there are no specifically designated trails. When riding in the ATV/ ORV area, ATVs no not have to be licensed, and vehicles do not have to have a park entrance license either. Riding is permitted only on the designated areas inside the ATV/ ORV area.
Remember, while the Oahe Downstream ATV/ ORV Area doesn't require your ATV to be licensed or have a park entrance license, all of the other parks in South Dakota do. Lets go over some of the rules for riding your ATV in South Dakota: All people riding on ATVs have to be at least 14 years of age, or have a valid driver's license. Also, every ATV has to be equipped with a functional mirror, horn, headlight, brakes, brake lights and a license plate.
Camping is available at three campgrounds in the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area, which feature 206 campsites with electricity, and four camping cabins that are equipped with wheelchair accessories for the disabled. But camping and ATV riding aren't the only things that you can do while at the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area. The park also includes access to a swimming beach, a nine hole golf course, hiking and biking trails, a sand volleyball court, an archery and rifle range, playground equipment, and areas where you can enjoy fishing and boating as well.

Places to Ride ATVs in the Black Hills National Forest of South Dakota
The Black Hills National Forest has hundreds of miles of undeveloped, primitive roads that are simply perfect for ATV riding. The roads also have non ATV traffic on them, so ride carefully and be courteous when interacting with other vehicles. The volume of traffic is normally rather low on these roads the amount of traffic gets bigger hunting season in the fall. In certain parts of the forest ATV riding is prohibited due to travel management rules that exist to protect soils and other natural features of the forest that could be harmed by ATVs.
The portion of the Black Hills National Forest that is in Wyoming requires that all ATVs must be licensed or be registered in the Wyoming OHV program before they can be used in the forest. Be sure to check the state requirements to obtain information about proper licensing. Just like all other National Forest System lands, the Black Hills National Forest demands that ATVs and all other vehicles with gasoline powered engines have USDA Forest Service (USDA FS)-approved working mufflers and spark arrestors. If your ATV does not meet these requirements, then you can not ride it at the Black Hills National Forest.
Remember that riding your ATV off of the dictated trails and roads can cause extensive damage and disturbance to the resources and wildlife of the area. It is asked that you do not do this out of respect to the animals and the land, and out of respect for other ATV riders. If enough people abuse the forest, ATV riding will no longer be tolerated, so remember to abide by these rules not just out of respect for the land and its inhabitants, but also because you enjoy riding your ATV. You can easily find all trails and roads by viewing the Black Hills National Forest map. Remember to have fun riding your ATV, and leave the forest better than you found it.

ATV Riding Tips
In this article we will discuss various tips and rules for riding an ATV that could help you out in a bad situation, or preferably help you prevent one from happening in the first place. To start off, lets touch on one of the most important and obvious rules of ATV riding; never ride under the nfluence of alcohol or any other drugs. This may seem like a no brainer, but it is extremely important. When you ride an ATV you must be completely aware of what you are doing, otherwise you are putting yourself and others in danger.
Also, never show off or mess around while riding your ATV, and don't try to ride trails that are beyond your ability, because you may get hurt. This is especially true for beginning riders. You may feel the need to be adventurous and immediately explore harsher terrain, but wait until you are ready for it. Becoming a skilled ATV rider takes time and experience. If you rush into a situation you can't handle, you could seriously hurt yourself. Take the time to know and understand your ATV, and ride with experienced riders as often as you can. In no time you will build the experience and knowledge needed to handle the more intense trails.
Another important tip for riding your ATV is to respect the land and environment. Do not go off of your trail, do not harm the land, and do not litter. In fact, it's a nice gesture to pick up any litter that you see, if possible. If you want to keep experiencing the beauty of nature, then it is in your best interest to keep it clean. Also, don't blast any loud music from your ATV while on a trail. This can be very distracting and it ruins the peaceful nature experience for others. Always remember to be courteous to all other riders on the trail, and be respectful as possible. Have fun riding your ATV, and remember to be safe.

ATV Riding in Tennessee: Coal Creek ORV Area
The Coal Creek ORV Area is home to 72,000 acres of land that is perfect for an ATV off road adventure, located in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, about 15 miles west of Knoxville. The area's huge hills, great creek crossings, mud pits, scenic vistas, and miles of trail make this a truly ideal place for ATV riding, and is perfect for both the beginning and experienced ATV rider. The land is owned by the Coal Creek Mining and Manufacturing Company, who made an agreement with the Windrock ATV club to allow the property to be used as an off road vehicle and ATV trail system. The trails are open to everyone and various different types of vehicle: ATVs, Jeeps, Motorcycles, Buggies, and more. The rules for riding your ATV in the area are rather simple: wear proper safety equipment at all times, ride only on the trails that are marked, do not climb hills except in the designated areas, do not bring firearms in the area, and don't litter.
The area is open and available 24 hours a day, and 365 days a year, and free primitive camping is available in he area as well. A Land Use Permit is needed to access the area, but these are cheap and easy to obtain. To get to the Coal Creek trail head from highway 62 in Oliver Springs, then go three miles north on to Windrock Road. The trailhead is easy to spot, with lots of parking space to accommodate both large and small groups of ATV enthusiasts. As was stated previously, the camping is primitive, but it is free. There are currently no toilets or sinks available, but plans are being made to add these things to the site soon. Remember to be safe, follow the rules, and have an exciting ATV experience!

What to Look Out for When ATVing La Paz County Park in Arizona
La Paz County Park is located on the Colorado river and is just located North of Parker, AZ. There are about 5 different ATV trails which are limted to 25 vehicles per trail) to choose from, and the difficulty level ranges from easy to hardest.
If you're looking for a challenge on your ATV, you will love riding your machine on Snake Bite Trail which is one of the ATV trails available for riding and it is rated moderately hard but has some real challenges to over you on your ride.
Almost immediately after the trailhead there is a fairly large uphill climb that should be easy for you to navigate on your ATV providing you have learned proper techniques. After the initial hill, there is a pretty steep and loose descent into a wash bottom - your tires should have good grip prior to attempting this ATV trail.
One of the most difficult areas on this ATV is just after the wash area, there is a low hanging tree on the left, a large diff grabbing rock in the middle and a rock wall on the right. Many ATVers get caught by the rock, but all eventually make it through.
And that's just the beginning of the what these ATV trails have to offer. One of the most challenging areas is called Crunch Canyon with good reason, it is steep and hard to navigate, this is definitely no place for a beginning ATVer. After Crunch Canyon, the ATV trail mellows out and you can enjoy the ride.
This is a very fun ATV trail system and a great place to ride your ATV if you're an experienced ATVer. There's no reason you won't have a blast riding your ATV at the La Pax County Park in Arizona.

ATV at the Warrambungles in Australia
Australia has some fantastic ATVing. Most of it is rugged and rough with patches of dense foliage. There are a lot of prickly, unfriendly bushes so be make sure to wear heavy arm covering or your arms won't feel so friendly by the end of your ride.
On of the treats on this ATV ride is when you skirt the Catomobal Range, you will cross Mitchell's Creek - use your water fording skills on your ATV.
Another fun venue on this ATV trail is the semi-ghost town of Merrygoen. If it wasn't for the old rail junction and the small BHP mine, the tumbledown Railway Hotel and the small general store would cease to survive. This is a definite stop of the beaten path for your average ATV ride, but well worth it. Pick up a few homemade chutneys or jams to have with breakfast.
There are great camping spots available for your ATV after you cross Pangula Creek. If you are in the mood to fish, park your ATV and cast in your line, the fish in these waters are huge. There is a gate to the remainder of the ATV trail that stays unlocked, please be sure to close it behind you, or you just might let someone's livestock out.
If you're looking to camp. Campsites are available at Warrumbungle National Park for $10 per night. There are toilets & hot showers at main campsite. Burbie Camp, accessible down a short 4WD track has no such facilities.
Enjoy your ride at the Warrambungles, there's a lot to see and do and always a good time to be had.

Take Your ATV to the California, Angeles National Forest
Angeles National Forest is a busy area to ride your ATV, but since it offers up more than 600,000-acres of wilderness for hiking, camping, skiing, biking, fishing, hunting, and ATVing fun, it's well worth putting up with the crowds that sometimes happen.
The scenic beauty of this ATV trail system is well known and with good reason, the flora gives way to dry mountain desert, with seasonal lakes and streams taking up a very small percentage of the Forest's total area.
There are over a dozen trailheads to begin your ATV excursion on, basically you just need to find the one you want to ride. One of the most popular areas is at the San Gabriel Mountain Range at the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway, also known as Highway 2, which begins in La Canada and winds along postcard mountain vistas dotted by picnic areas, hiking trails, and falling rock. This is a challenging ride for you ATV and one that you will love and want to ride again.
Do be aware that both bears and rattlesnakes are in abundance in this area. For bears, don't leave your food out and lock it up tight they won't be much of a bother. Rattlesnakes look for the warmest thing in the area to get next to at night, zip up your sleeping bags and it's a good rule of thumb to shake them out before getting in them at night if you've left yours laying around.
There are some precarious drops into hazy ravines off the ATV trail sides and the painted mountains are breathtaking. Since this is National Forest managed lands be careful and obey all rules and regulations and you'll have a great time riding these ATV trails.

An ATV adventure is waiting on the Cooloola Coast in Australia
If you're looking for a perfect escape from the norm that involves ATVs, sand, and kangaroos, then the Cooloola Coast in Australia is the perfect getaway spot for you. The Cooloola coast is a breathtakingly exquisite region of vast sandy beaches and coastal forests, that simply begs to be explored both by foot and by ATV. Located about two hours north of Brisbane in Queensland, there is a large and diverse amount of terrain to explore in the area. ATV enthusiasts will simply have a blast roaming through the sand, and when you're tired you can hang out at one of the various hotels and restaurants in the area. Also ripe for exploring on the coast is the Great Sandy National Park, Red Canyon, Rainbow beach, and Freshwater Track. Explore all you can on the coast, because there are very few other places in the world where you can ride an ATV on the beach.
While riding your ATV on the sand, remember to follow the same basic rules you would while in the forest trails you are used to. Do not drive your ATV while under the influence of any drugs, and remember to be courteous to any people and animals that you interact with. The area is home to some wild animals, particularly kangaroos, so be sure to be respectful when you pass them with your ATV, and do not harm or feed them in any way. Also, don't crank up any loud music from your ATV, because it is likely to annoy the other people trying to savor the beauty of the ocean, and it could possibly frighten the wildlife in the area. Be respectful of the land, and do not litter. Treat the land good and leave it looking better than it did when you got there. Be safe, and have fun riding your ATV on the beach.

What Size Raceway ATV Should I Buy for My Child?
When considering purchasing an ATV for your child, you need to consider a few factors. If your child is ready for the responsibility and understands the necessity of wearing the correct safety gear to ride an ATV, you need to pick the correct size for your child.
It's very important that your child ride an ATV made for their particular size, and ATV that is too small isn't safe and an ATV that is too powerful can get away from your child and cause injury to themselves or others.
Choosing the correct size ATV for your child isn't rocket science, but takes a little thought. The industry standards are as follows :
If your child is age 6 and older - choose an ATV under 70cc. If your child is age 12 to 16 - choose an ATV in the range of 70cc-90cc. If your child is age 16 and older- choose an ATV over 90cc.
It is usually recommended that children under 6 do not participate in the riding of ATVs. Your children should never ride ATVs unsupervised and consider enrolling your children in some ATV safety classes. They will proudly show their Safety Course Diploma to everyone and they will use put the safe ATV riding skills to good use. Additionally, you can use the speed governor and lower the speed of your child's ATV down to 5MPH while they are learning to ride and most models come with a rear tether where an adult can walk behind a young rider and if the ATV starts to be hard to handle for the new rider, the tether can be pulled and the engine will be killed and the ATV stopped.
Riding an ATV is just extremely fun, but safe practices in riding must be learned first and safety must always be a priority. Once your child gets in the habit of being a safe, it will become second nature.

Safety When Using Your ATV While Hunting
Riding your ATV on hunting trips hunting has grown in popularity, so you must also use common sense and safety at all times while doing so. We will go over some of the basic safety concerns associated with ATV riding. But always keep in mind the noise level of your ATV you may be able to get to secluded hunting destinations more quickly but remember no matter how smooth your ATV is running always consider the noise level of disturbing nature and wildlife they have good hearing don't let your ATV alert them to your approach.
First off consider taking an ATV approved training course. Many retailers give discounts for successful completion. Ask a dealer if they offer this and class schedules. Always read and follow the owner's manual you received when you purchased your ATV. Make an effort to pay attention to all directions and warnings within the manual. Here are some particular tips to keep in mind while hunting with your ATV:
Never Ride With a Passenger on your ATV.
Don't drink alcohol or take drugs before or while handling firearms, bows or operating your ATV. Alcohol and drugs impair normal physical and mental body functions and mustn't be used before or while handling firearms, archery equipment and riding your ATV. These substances affect emotions, making it easier to lose control and make impaired judgment calls.
If you come across a stream or a creek and you cannot avoid crossing it, go very slowly at a ninety degree angle and definitely only where the ATV trail crosses the water
Always transport firearms unloaded and in a secured case or rack mounted to the ATV so as not to interfere with the ATV's safe operation not slung over your back or carried on your lap. The case will protect your firearm from damage while being transported.
Hunting with your ATV is enjoyable but please keep these precautions in mind!

Water Fun with the Speed Zone 2
The Speed Zone 2 has all the great features of the Speed Zone towable but it lets you double the fun by bringing a friend along for the ride.
The Speedzone has a comfortably designed seat and strategically placed handles for maximum grip when you're flying through the water on your towable!
This brightly designed towable will provide a long time of fun for you and a friend and you'll find it is well designed for taking a punishment of long hours in the water when you're having a blast with your friends.
The recessed cockpits with back rests are amongst the best designs for this model as they allow you to enjoy the ride and hang on a little more security.
As with most of these towables, the double webbing foam handles provide the ultimate in good grip and the double stitched nylon cover makes this towable a really durable choice in water toys. The air cushioned inflatable floor is a great addition that improves the ride.
The self bailing drain vent means that more water leaves than comes in and the steady pace of the drain vent will insure the water stays in the lake and not your towable lagging you down.
The towable related items you can purchase to go along with your Speed Zone 2 include extra towing ropes (always have a couple of these on hand in case of a break), a repair kit (another wise decision as snags can happen, even with these well designed towables), and the 3.0 Electric Pump will make filling all your towables with air a real piece of cake so you can get in the water even faster.
The Speed Zone 2 is a fun way to spend an afternoon with your friends, get yours from Raceway and best of all, shipping is free!
