Winom Frazier OHV Complex
Great riding and excitement await you at the Winom Frazier OHV Complex.
Here you will find a whopping one hundred and forty miles or more of
awesomely challenging trails! But, there is more! The Winom Frazier OHV
Complex also has lots of great hunting and fishing along with other great
recreational activities, all located within the Complex.
The various elevations offered within the OHV riding area vary from 4,600
feet to almost 6,900 feet. Most of these trails located within the Complex are
kept up for use by riders from June through September. Sometimes however,
certain hazards can develop which can close down certain trails. Riders should
always use caution while riding to ensure the utmost safety at all times.
The Winom Frazier OHV Complex is open for Class I and III ATVs
throughout spring, summer and fall and there are no fees at all to ride. If you
are looking for a place to stay while on your riding trip, you can camp at the
Winom Creek Campground located on the premises. Here there are 18
campsites equipped with tables and fire logs for camper convenience.
The Winom Frazier OHV Complex is a great place to go to have fun and ride
with friends or family. If you are part of a group or riding club, you may

Riding a Quad at the Sunflower OHV Area
You should not let the name Sunflower fool you, the Sunflower OHV area is
the perfect place to go to ride and relax amongst the best views Oregon has
to offer. Here, there are over 37,000 amazing acres of land that are open to
riders of Class I, II and III ATVs.
This is a beautiful place to go and ride if you are one who likes to enjoy
beautiful scenery. At the top of Ant Hill, you can look over the trees from an
old fire lookout. There are no formal routes designated for ATVing, and you
need to be cautious of where you are riding at all times. Some of the land is
private property with no visible boundaries. Also, during the winter season
only snowmobiles are allowed access. The Sunflower OHV area is open
during the spring, summer and fall.
For those adventurous riders who also enjoy a little bit of camping in the
great outdoors there is also local camping available. The Fairview
campground offers a few campsites for weary riders with the added
convenience of drinking water.
There are no fees that apply for riders in the Sunflower OHV area, and the
spot is also very easy to get to.
Directions:
Follow State Highway 19 East through the town of Spray to State Highway
207. Then turn and start heading north until you reach USFS Road 23. Then
follow 23 East until you hit the riding area. It is impossible to miss.
If you are into ATVing, this is a great place to go for a great time. There is a

Off Road (ATV) Laws In Wyoming
If you are looking to ride your off-road vehicle or ATV in Wyoming, whether
you are visiting or you call it home, you should be sure that you are aware of
all of the laws before you start out. Some riders do not stop to think first that
they should check with local laws which can not only save them troubles, but
can also help keep them safer in the long run.
First off, you should start by making sure you have your annual permit taken
care of. You can get one by calling (307) 777-7477 or by purchasing one
from any selling agent located across the state of Wyoming. These permits
only cost $15, and you are required to display one whether or not you are a
Wyoming resident. Also, when driving on roads, all operators must possess a
valid drivers license.
Some simple laws to remember for riding your ATV or off-road vehicle in
Wyoming are that no person is allowed to enter private property for hunting
or fishing without permission, and all ATVs and trail bikes have to be
equipped with spark-safe mufflers along with complying with sound
regulations.
You must be sure that when you are riding your ATV or trail bike that you
are not damaging or disrupting and of the land or wildlife. The state of
Wyoming takes pride in their natural habitats and misconduct such as this is
strictly prohibited.

ATVing at the Tillamook State Forest
If you live in Oregon, or you are going to be a visitor, a great place to go
ATVing is at the Tillamook State Forest. This State Forest offers some of the
greatest Off-Highway Vehicle or OHV riding trails located in the Pacific
Northwest. While you are visiting the Tillamook State Forest, four of the
main areas to go to enjoy the trails are called Jordan Creek, Browns Camp,
Trask and Diamond Mill. Trails located within these areas are perfect for
riders of every nature, from the person just starting out to the novice.
Several times throughout the year, the Tillamook State Forest holds a varying
series of events from Poker Runs, Trials, Challenges, Kids Field Day and
much, much more. There is always something going on with their full
schedule of events.
When you are tired at the end of the day from OHV riding, you can rest your
weary head at one of eight (yes, eight!) campgrounds located within the
Tillamook State Forest. You can choose from the quiet Gales Creek
Campground, perfect for family camping, which also includes access to
mountain bike and hiking trails. The slightly smaller Elk Creek Campground
has 15 walk-in campsites and a small swimming hole great for the kids. Or,
maybe you are looking for a site that is a bit more primitive such as the
Diamond Mill Campground. This is an undeveloped piece of land perfect for
the rugged camper, which is open all year long. The ATVing at the Tillamook
State Forest is a great time to be had by all.

Using Your ATV during the Hunting Season
Most people know that riding an ATV is a lot of fun, and lots of hunters like
to use their ATVs during the hunting season. If you or somebody you know
is looking to use an ATV while hunting this year, you should be sure and take
caution while riding. Lots of regulations and restrictions have had to be laid
down against ATV riders which can affect your use of them during the
hunting season.
What is causing these problems you ask? People being irresponsible with the
machines is the number one problem causing a lot of these restrictions. A lot
of the complaints people have are also from hunters. Some hunters have
complained that the ATVs have enabled access to areas that have not been
hunted as much in the previous years. Also, the sound of an ATV used in the
woods during hunting season can cause animals such as deer and elk to run
away from the hunters.
Another viable complaint is that besides the issue of an unfair advantage,
ATV riders are also digging up and ruining some of the land and soil, which
can harm fish and other wildlife.
Hunting is a sport that dates back for hundreds and hundreds of years.
Walking through the woods, stalking and catching your game. If you are
using an ATV, you should try your best to be respectful to others who are
hunting on foot, possibly in the same areas as you may be. And, above all,
when using your ATV to hunt, drive carefully and take care of yourself.

The Nipple Butte ATV Trail in the Malheur National Forest
The Nipple Butte ATV Trail in the Malheur National Forest is a grand place to go ATVing. When you visit this amazing ATV trail, you will wonder what took you so long to go.
There are two ways to get there, the first is heading east from County Road 18. Go west onto Forest Service Road #279 for about 3/4 of a mile till you get to the intersection meeting FSR 296. The other route takes you from MT. Vernon heading north on US 395 to FSR 3940. Keep going north till it junctions with FSR 3947 and then go east for about a 1/4 mile till you reach FSR 459.
The length of this ATV trail is 3 miles with elevations of 6160 at it's highest and 5520 at it's lowest. With this ATV trail being quite challenging, it has been rated as more difficult. The opening season for the ATV trail is in April and the closure is in September.
There is some rugged terrain out on this ATV trail, with lots to see as well. There are many turn offs for you to park your ATV and check out the fantastic views. There are some steep places with moderate to heavy timber stands and plenty of twists and turns.
Sometimes while out with our buddies we forget some of the rules in the sport of ATVing. Never ride side by side on the trails and never ride double. Watch your speed as there are others out and about, along with wildlife, and they should be safe from harm while out on the ATV trails.
Do a complete check of the ATV vehicle, as this is one of the most frequent problems that occurs. Make sure you have plenty of gas, check the oil and for any leaks that might be going on. The brakes are a very important element in the running of the ATV and so are the tires. Check the air pressure and the tread for any foreign objects.
Just use your head and there should be nothing but fun on your ATV.

Fields Peak ATV Trail
The Fields Peak ATV Trail is a great place for you and your friends to go ATVing. It is for the most experienced of ATV riders, so keep in mind, it will be a fantastic challenge.
To get there take US Highway 26 for about 18 miles till you get to Forest Service Road (FSR) 21. Keep going south for about 8 miles till you get to FSR 2100115. Follow the sign to get to McClellan Trailhead and head eat about a 1/4 mile to FSR 2160041. From this road, you will come to the ATV trail.
The length of this fine ATV trail is 4 miles with some very difficult spots. The low elevation is 6600 ft. and the high is 7400. It is not highly used, but still be cautious from June to November, when the trail is open.
Pay attention to what trails are open to ATV's and which ones are not. From these trails, access is available to other trails that may not be open to ATV's so be careful. The busiest time for these ATV trail is during the fall when big game hunting is going on.
Being a good ATV sports rider, you know how important safety is. The running of your vehicle is very important. Do a complete systems check before heading out. This includes the brakes, tires, and oil. Check for any leaks and fix them.
Wearing the right equipment is vital to your safety. Wear a helmet, goggles, gloves, and boots along with an ATV suit.
Tell someone where you are going and when you will return, along with taking a cell phone in case of an emergency.
So enjoy yourself and your time on the ATV, just keep safety and common sense at the front lines at all times.

Oregon ATV Trails - East Fork Rock OHV Trail System
The East Fork Rock OHV trails have the diversity you might just be looking for in your next ATV ride. The East Fort Rock OHV trail system provides a full range of riding difficulty from easiest to most difficult to navigate on your ATV. There are two staging areas, two trailheads, and four designated play areas.
These ATV trails are 318 miles long and are for casual and competitive use covering about 110,000 acres and ranging in elevation from 4400 to 6400 feet.
The ATV trail system is designed for Class I and Class III ATVs which are quads or three-wheelers and motorcycles less than 50" in width. Off-highway vehicles are allowed on designated routes and areas only. On the ATV trails, if a trail is not signed as open, it is closed and riding on that trail will be prohibited. The trails are multi-use trails and are open to horses, mountain bikes, and other recreationists, so please watch for others and ride sharefully and carefully.
The trail system is open all year, however hot, dusty conditions normally inhibit riding from mid-July through September and cold, snowy conditions inhibit riding from mid-December through March. Call ahead and find out how the conditions on the ATV trails are, you don't want to come all the way out for a day of fun on your ATV and find out the trails are closed to riding.
Unlike some of the other staging areas in this National Forest group, there are vault toilets and information kiosks with maps. In addition, there are two primitive campgrounds, China Hat and Sand Springs. Both have vault toilets and maps are available at these two facilities as well. Additionally, all camp areas can accommodate large motor homes and fifth wheel trailers- so if you pack your ATV along with your trailer, making a weekend out of it and explore this area and have a blast on your ATV!

Oregon ATV Trails - Green Mountain
If you're looking for an ATV trail with a spectacular view, make the The Green Mountain trail your next ride. It lies Northeast of Prineville in the Ochoco National Forest.
This trail is only 8.5 miles long and it winds through open ridge tops with outstanding views and passes through scenic old growth of ponderosa pine stands. If you're lucky enough to be riding in the spring, expect to see a lot of wild flowers.
If your ATV is less than 50" in width you can ride the Green Mountain trail. Please note that the The Green Mountain Trail is not an OHV park. Off-highway vehicles are allowed on the designated trail. Additionally, they can ride roads with vertical route numbers, skid trails, cow trails and any area not specifically closed to OHV's.
They do ask that you follow the standards put forth by Treadlightly and stay on the existing and well marked travel routes. These are multi-use trails and are open to horses, mountain bikes, and other ATVers, so please watch for others and ride sharefully and carefully.
You can get the latest ATV trail map at the ranger's office and it's always a good idea to have a current map, even on a short ATV trail like this one. Please note that there are no camping areas located immediately adjacent to the Green Mountain trail. There are many dispersed sites in the vicinity and camping is allowed at any of them. The Wildcat Campground is the closest developed campground with water and toilets and there is an $8.00 fee per night. There is no garbage collection at any point on this ATV trail system so if you bring it in, pack it out.
Green Mountain will have a lot of twists and turns and a great amount of scenic beauty to offer up for your next ATV ride no matter what time of year you ride.

How To Stay Safe Riding A Water Towable
Water towables are a blast and they are already designed with the utmost in safety in mind, but there are a few things you can do to help be a little bit safer when you're out having a great time on your water towables.
Number one is watch the weather. Rough water can mean a dangerous ride and if there is lightening in the area, get out of the water, as you know, lightening strikes the tallest thing in a given area, and in the water, that will generally be you!
When you're being towed, keep the nose end of your towable up until it planes out. That way you won't get thrown off your towable. Hitting the water going at faster speeds does not feel nice. This simple procedure will ensure you stay on your towable.
Turns need a little attention. If you're making a 90, 180, or 360 degree turn, ride with your turn and hang on to the handles. The driver of the boat has the ultimate call in the safety of the rider on the towable. If you think someone is too large or too small for the particular towable they want to ride on, do them a favor and possibly save them from injury by erring on the side of caution and telling them so!
When you are towing people, make sure they are wearing proper safety gear such as a life jacket and follow basic safety rules for towing such as staying away at least 50 yards away from all immovable objects and keep your distance from the shore, rocks, boats, docks, buoys and shallow water.
And don't drink and drive, that is just common sense, alcohol lowers your good judgment and can lead to you making a costly and tragic mistake. The best rule of thumb is just don't do it.
Lastly, read and follow all label directions on your water towable and make sure you are using it in the proper way, if the towable is made for just one person, don't play the odds and load it up with people. Towables are fun, but remember, safety comes first!

Take Your ATV to the Horseshoe Trail
When heading to the Horseshoe Trail, keep in mind how much fun it is going to be when you get to ride one of the best ATV trails around.
To get there take county road 62 to Forest Service road 14 and turn onto FSR 13. Follow this road for about 12 miles till you get to the trailhead.
The length of this ATV trail is about 6 miles with an elevation of 7800 ft. at it's highest, and 5000 ft. at it's lowest. This trail for ATVing can be quite rough so it has been listed as most difficult, so keep this in mind. It opens in June and closes in November for all activity.
This ATV trail not only gives you challenging turns and steep climbs, it also offers some breathtaking views. Get off the ATV and check it all out before you head on, you will not be disappointed. You will come across old brush that had been burned badly back in 1990. Water is the problem because it is not accessible in the trail area, so it must be brought in.
As a seasoned ATVer, safety is a top priority while participating in the sport of ATVing. Check your vehicle to make sure it is in top running order. The brakes, oil, any leaks, and don't forget the tires.
Wearing the proper gear is important as well. A helmet to protect your head, as well as gloves, goggles, and a good pair of boots. One of those good looking ATV suits or even a long sleeve shirt and pants will do to.
Make sure you let someone know where you are going and when you will be back. Taking a cell phone with you will ensure a way of contacting help if an emergency arises.

ATVing the Starvation Trail
Interesting name for a great place to go ATVing, the Starvation Trail. Maybe the name has something to do with the fact that this is a challenging and difficult trail to ride on your ATV.
To get there, take County road 62 and head south past Prairie City then turn east at the sign for the Starvation Trail trailhead.
The length of this particular ATV trail is 2.1 miles with the highest elevation of 7700 ft. and the lowest being 6300 ft. The use of this trail is light but you still want to stay alert while out riding. The opening of the ATV trail is in June and it closes in November.
This ATV trail is well taken care of with plenty of meadow areas available if you ever decide to camp out. The trail takes you through lots of wooded areas and ties you to the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness and the Glacier Mountain Roadless Management Area.
Because of the fact that cattle graze in this area where the ATV trail goes, it would be advisable to take drinking water with you. Even though there is water available, it could be contaminated from the cattle.
Safety is the time priority to all in the sport of ATVing. The first thing is to make sure your vehicle is running smoothly with everything being checked before hand. The brakes, oil, and the tires, are all a part of the process.
Wear the right gear whenever heading out on the ATV trails. This is so important to the protection to your body. A helmet, gloves, goggles, and a good pair of boots will be good. An ATV suit is also available.
So when heading out to the ATV trails remember, be safe, drive safe, and play safe.

The Malheur National Forest Sheep Creek ATV Trail
Want the most from your time on your ATV? Then go to the Malheur National Forest and ride the Sheep Creek ATV Trail and have the time of your life.
To get there just take County road 62 heading south then turn onto Forest Service Road 13. Follow that for about 15 miles and that will take you right to the ATV trailhead.
The length of this ATV trail is 5.4 miles with the highest elevation of 8000 ft. and the lowest being 5000 ft. The terrain can get pretty rough and there is some obstacles, so it has been rated as more difficult. The season for this ATV trail to be open is from June to November.
One nice thing about this ATV trail is that it follows Sheep Creek. There is plenty of scenic views that you would not want to miss, so take some time and look. There will be lots of wildlife that includes Elk and deer. There might also be cattle grazing at certain times of the day.
Watch for plies of wood and debris blocking part of the ATV trail. Also carry water with you because even though there is a water supply, it could be contaminated from the cattle.
Safety is a factor whenever faced with a tough and rugged ATV trail such as this one. Take the time to do a complete systems check on your vehicle before you take it out. The oil, the brakes, and the tires are all apart of this check.
Never ride side by side or even double for that matter. Take a cell phone in case of an emergency and make sure people know where you are and when you will be returning.
Put all of these factors into play and that will be all you will have to do - play.

The Oregon Dunes - Spinreel to Horsfall
Another great spot to ride your ATV is here. This is the largest riding area at the Oregon Dunes and it stretches between Spinreel Campground and Horsfall Road. Just a few miles north of North Bend/Coos Bay, this road leads to Horsfall dunes and there is a beach access. Another access is Hauser Sand Rd, which links the Horsfall dunes to the beach and may be used as a loop around on this ATV trail.
If you are looking for a fun ride on your ATV, you can find it amongst the designated sand roads, dunes and forests in this riding area. The year round beach access is an added bonus to those who enjoy a ride along the shore and as any experienced ATVer knows, sand is a whole different riding experience. The if it's tightly packed it can be a firm, fun ride and if it is lose it can be a challenging ride to navigate your ATV through. You will find both types on this ATV ride.
As with all areas managed by the National Forest Service, please be sure to have your spark arrestor in place and your muffler installed prior to riding these areas. Additionally, please note that this area has a midnight curfew.
The Forest Service Campgrounds with sand access in this area are Spin reel, Hors fall and Hors fall Beach and camping is primitive, and there are no facilities so remember, if you bring it in with you, you must bring it out.
If you are visiting on a holiday weekend, there is an overflow camping area that is opened at Hauser during Memorial, 4th of July and Labor Day weekends. In addition, the private Oregon Dunes KOA campground near Hauser provides sand access for ATVs.

The Oregon Dunes : South Jetty to Siltcoos ATV Riding
The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area has a blast of a place to ride your ATV. The South Jetty to Siltcoos area is a fun ride on your ATV because of the difference in the terrains you will experience. It will be very sandy at certain points and flat and easy to navigate on others.
The South Jetty/Goose Pasture is located less than a mile from Florence, and this popular ATV riding area can be accessed from South Jetty Road on the northern end, and Siltcoos Beach Access Road from the south end either way will get on the ATV trails.
The OHV area is best known for South Jetty Hill, which is fondly called "Show-Off Hill" by OHV enthusiasts. You will find large sand dunes and five tree islands within the riding area boundaries and the sand dunes allow for a lot of showing off on your ATV!
If you are a newer or inexperienced ATVer, these are great dunes to hone your control skills on your ATV and learn how to properly and safely climb sand dunes both going up and coming down. There's a definite technique to it.
A Noise Buffer Closure is in place on the eastern boundary of the ATV riding area so be sure you have your muffler installed before riding in that area, additionally, the beach adjacent to riding areas is open to OHV access, but the area has a 10 p.m. curfew.
There are Forest Service Campgrounds with sand access in this area are Driftwood II. Other Campgrounds available in this area are Oddfellows, Sand Dunes Frontier, and Woahink Lake Resort. Honeyman State Park Campground has seasonal sand access from November-April.

The Oregon Dunes: ATVing the Umpqua Dunes
If you like riding sand dunes, I mean really like riding sand dunes, you will think you're in heaven when you ride this ATV area.
This riding area is home to the tallest sand dunes in the Oregon Dunes NRA. The area is accessed from Umpqua Beach in the #2 parking lot which is open 24 hours a day for OHV access, and Umpqua Beach #3 Day use which is open 6 am to 10 pm.
Even though this ATV trail has been marked as an ATV trail that even the newest of ATV riders could ride upon and feel comfortable, safety has to be the most important element in the sport of ATVing. First thing is to make sure you do a complete systems check on your ATV pre-ride. Give your brakes, the tires, and the whole machine the once over, once you get in the habit of doing a pre-ride inspection of your ATV, it will be become second nature and will go very fast.
Even when the ATV ride will be an easy one, make sure that you tell someone where you are going and when you will be back. Along with a cell phone, this is the best thing to do in case something happens.
Always wear the right equipment when ATVing. That would include a helmet, gloves, goggles, and boots. If you prefer not to wear a suit specifically made for ATVing, then a long sleeve shirt and long pants will do just fine for the ride but you won't be as protected.
If you ride your ATV to the top of a tall dune, you will see a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. The beach itself is closed to OHV travel year round.

The Sunshine Flat ATV Trail
Have a great time when you head out to the ATV Trails in Sunshine Flat, you will be glad you did. There is plenty of swirls, curves and rough terrain to challenge your ATV riding skills.
To get there take County Road 62 to forest Service road 14 and head south. Then turning east onto FSR 1665 and continue heading north till you come to the trailhead.
The length of this ATV trail is 3.7 miles with an elevation at it's highest point being 8000 ft. and the lowest at 5500 ft. The season for riding the ATV trails is from April to November.
This ATV trail begins at the top ridge and heads you down with plenty of openings in the forest to see breathtaking views all around. There are some grassy clearings and then drops becoming more difficult to find. Look for wildlife like elk and deer.
Before heading out to the ATV trail, make sure you do a complete systems check on your vehicle. This is a very important job that could determine whether you have a good time or a bad time. Check the brakes, oil, and don't forget the tires.
Make sure you never ride double or side by side out on the ATV trail. Tell someone where you are going and when you will be coming back. A cell phone will be a good reassurance that help is just a phone call away. Just remember that it may not always work at the higher elevations.

The Importance Of Proper ATV Riding Equipment
Riding an ATV is fun. Okay, it's a whole lot of fun. Getting hurt is not fun and for the most part, nearly all of the little accidents that happen on ATVs could have been prevented by the use of some standard and easily attainable safety equipment.
A helmet is a must have. Don't even think about getting on your ATV without one. The number one cause of ATV injury are people thinking they don't need to wear a helmet for a ride on a trail they think they know or thinking since it is only going to be a short ride, they don't need to wear their helmet, they couldn't be more wrong. Death is the worse case scenario of an accident when not wearing your helmet, or going through life with a brain injury isn't a fun thought and it could all be avoided by wearing a DOT approved helmet. Helmet technology has come along way in the past few years, not only are they harder wearing and more durable, they even look cooler too!
Googles are another item you should always wear when ATVing. Even if your helmet has a long visor in the front. That won't stop debris from entering your eyes, and if you've driven an ATV, you know how fast and hard the debris can get kicked up. Googles cost a heck of a lot less than a trip to the emergency room.
Chest protection is a great item. They look good and really save you from slapping tree branches, debris and if you take a spill on your ATV, it will really lessen the impact.
Long sleeves for arms and long pants for legs are just smart attire to wear when ATVing. There are some great sets to purchase and wear or you can use your own favorite clothing provided it fits well and it is heavy enough to stop debris from stinging your skin.
ATVing is a very fun sport and will be even better when you wear the proper equipment, now that you know what to wear, get it and get out there and have a great time!

An Overview Of Oregon Dunes National ATV Recreation Area
The Oregon Dunes is listed as a National Recreation Area is open to motorized vehicles for recreational use. There are 3 main areas that offer ATV riding opportunities, camping and staging areas. However, it is just as important to know where you can't ride as you don't want to be having a great time and then find out you're off the ATV trail in a restricted area.
These are not only multi-use ATV trails, they are busy ATV trails as well, especially on holiday weekends. Be aware and show up early to get a good spot if you're going to be riding your ATV on July 4th or Labor Day weekends especially. The campgrounds allow motorized sand access, but not all do - make sure by checking your map or reading the clearly marked signs to see where you can and can not go on your ATV.
As of January 2006, there are new rules for sand camping. Recreation passes are not valid for sand camping. Campsite fees change to $10/night for standard sites and $20/night for group sites. There is not trash pick up at most facilities, so if you bring it in with you, you must pack it out with you and keep the area as pristine as when you arrived. Please note that campsites are limited to 5 highway vehicles/20 people.
Make sure you have your spark arrestor and muffler in place as many beach areas have noise limits and they will pull you off the ATV trail for having a noise machine.
These trails are a great way to spend the way with your friends, if you don't normally wear goggles when you ride your ATV, do make it a point to wear them on this ride as with all the sand you are bound to get some kicked up in your eyes by someone's wheels, so be safe and err on the side of caution and have yourself a great time riding your ATV at Oregon Dunes!

The Elk Flat ATV Trail
When ATVing on the Elk Flat Trail in the Malheur National Forest be ready to witness all of the wildlife that this glorious place has living there. The trail starts out flat but soon becomes very steep. You and your ATV will also cross the river.
To get to the ATV trail, take county road 62 and head south. Turn on Forest road 13 to #1370 and keep going till you come to Little Malheur Trailhead #366. The ATV trail is just ahead about a 1/2 mile north on the left hand side of the road.
This trail runs about 2.5 miles and has been classified as being more difficult. The elevation at it's lowest level is 5000 ft. and at it's highest, it's 6500 ft. The season for ATVing is from June to November depending on the weather of course.
There are areas where camping out is allowed, so that might be something to consider before taking off with your ATV. You will see Elk while riding on the ATV so paying attention is very important.
Safety is a big factor in the sport of ATVing. It can't be stressed enough how important it is. The first thing should always be checking the ATV machine the night before heading out.Check the brakes to make sure they are functioning properly. Make sure the oil is clean and full. Tighten up all loose parts and most of all check the tires. The air pressure on ATV tires is normally lower than usual and the tread should be checked for punctures.
The equipment you use and wear is also important, so as an ATVer, make sure you wear a helmet, goggles, gloves, and boots, along with a comfortable ATV suit.

Davis Creek ATV Trail in Malheur National Forest
Get ready to blast your way to the Davis Creek ATV Trail and experience the thrill of ATVing. This trail will take you through some heavy over growth, because of that, this ATV trail has been classified as a difficult trail.
To get there, from US Highway 26, go about 1/4 mile till you get to Forest Service Road #2614. Go for about 2 miles till you come to Forest Road 2614229 then turn south and go another 1/4 miles and there you are.
The length of this ATV trail is about 9.1 miles with an elevation of 3980 at it's lowest and 4860 at the highest.
The trail is very rough the first 6 miles and runs close to the contours of the trail. you will be riding in some heavy timber with not many breaks so keep that in mind when heading out with your ATV.
Before heading out to run your ATV, remember that safety is the biggest concern with this sport. Always pay attention to what is going on around you. Other people use these trails and so paying attention while riding your ATV is very important.
Let someone know where you are and when you will be back. Taking a cell phone will serve you well in case of an emergency.

Oregon ATV Trails ATVing Crane Mountain
Crane Mountain is a rough and ready ride for you and your ATV. This trail is not one of the longest in the forest system, but it is one of the steepest and most challenging ATV trails in the area.
These are multi-use trails and are open to motorcycles, off-highway vehicles, 4 x 4 vehicles and snowmobiles. Please be aware that the trail to the north of Crane Mt. Peak is NON-MOTORIZED and do not ride it at any point on your ATV.
If you're a newer or novice ATVer please make sure that you have someone experienced along for the ride for this trail system as some areas are very steep and be treacherous if you don't know proper navigation. Experienced ATVers will enjoy this trail system immensely.
As with all national forest lands, please be sure that you have your spark arrestor in place prior to riding and that you have a muffler in place. Doing a pre-ride inspection is always a great idea prior to a ride on your ATV, but when the terrain is rough, it's almost mandatory. You don't want to get stuck on a steep incline and have a small part malfunction because you didnt tighten a bolt or screw or check your spark plugs. Most maintenance is extremely minor and easy to keep up.
Be sure you do not ride these ATV trails alone and always make sure at least one person knows where you going and when you are supposed to return.
The parking area is generous and has ample room to turn around with your ATV trailer. The trail directions are conveniently signed and all in all this is a very well designed ATV riding area.

Consider ATV Riding Lessons For Improving Your Child's Safety Awareness
If you're going to let your child ride an ATV, make safety a priority and sometimes children listen best to an adult they don't live with. Sending your child to take some ATV riding lessons is a stellar idea, you might consider taking the class with them as it will be something fun to do with your child and even if you're a seasoned ATVer, you just might learn something!
First of all your child (and you if you're taking the course) will be taught about proper ATV attire and why it is worn. Expect to hear a lot about the importance of ATV helmets (and they are) and make sure your child really understands, a helmet simply must be worn anytime they are on their ATV.
Then you will taught about your ATVs controls and basic maneuvers such as turning, stopping, and shifting and even how to start you ATV and use the kill switch. They will also advise that before you get on your ATV, to do a little stretching of your own so your body is limber and ready to ride!
You and your child will learn how to shift and brake around corners. And also how to carefully follow others on your ATVs. Proper etiquette for trail riding will be taught, a good tip most classes teach is when you come to a fork in the trail or a shallow water crossing, wait for the ATV behind you before moving on - that way if there is a problem or you have someone who is a little slow keeping up, no one gets lost and everyone has a great time on their ATVs.
You will learn more maneuvering of your ATVs and do more complex turns such as turning circles and figure 8s. It will teach you fast shifting and braking control and teach you how to shift your body weight from side to side when turning different directions quickly.
Normally at the end of the lesson, you will be taken to a riding area and given a chance to show what you've learned and you should get a certificate of your lessons. Your child will be a safer ATVer and a proud to have earned a certificate!

Malheur National Forest Crane Creek ATV Trail
The Crane Creek Trail is great for anyone looking for a great time ATVing. Not only will you get a great work out and thrill seeking ride but you will experience the bed of the historic road of Dalles Military.
To get to this fabulous ATV trail, just take Forest Road 14 to Forest Road 13 that happens to run along Deardorff Creek. Then take Forest Road 16 till you get to Short Creek Guard Station. Turn onto #1675 for about 6 miles then turn right on to Forest Road 774. Keep going till you find North Fork Malheur River and cross over. Take Trail 381 north for about a 1/4 mile and you are there.
This trail is great for ATV's as well as other off the road vehicles. The length of this trail is 6.5 miles, has an elevation of 6500 ft to the low end and 5040 ft. at the highest. For ATV riding, the trail is open from April to November.

Oregon ATV Trails- ATVing Edison Butte
Riding your ATV at the Edison Butte Trail System is only about 25 miles long, but it is certainly a great ride. It is located on the slopes of Kwolh Butte and Sheridan Mountain, just west of Bend.
The recommended riding season is late June to October because of the high likelihood of snow to cover the ATV trail in the spring and summer months.
The ATV trail system goes through ponderosa pine and manzanita forest in the lower elevations, near the Edison Sno-Park and goes up into stands of hemlock trees near Kwolh Butte and Sheridan Mountain. This lush forest is a treat to ride through, even the most novice of ATVers will enjoy the ride here with very little difficulty.
After that part of the trail, you will come upon the volcanic terrain can be challenging and unless you're experienced or have an experienced ATVer in your group to show you the proper navigation for this type of terrain, it is not recommended that newer or inexperienced ATVers attempt this alone.
These are multi-use trail systems and you will be sharing these trails with mountain bikers and other recreationists during the summer months, so be conscientious and courteous of other users on the ATV trails.
If you choose to camp out at Edison Butte, it is allowed but only primitive camping. There is no water and no garbage collection, so whatever you bring in must leave with you. Small campfires are permitted, but please keep them small and don't leave them unattended. Please do not build campfires on the pavement. High winds and dry conditions can fuel a wildfire even at unlikely times of the year. Please note that spark arrestors are required on your ATV from April 1 to October 31.
