Riding An ATV In Osceola National Forest

While riding an ATV in Osceola National Forest, you will find there are nearly two hundred thousand acres of the original Florida are waiting to be explored in the Osceola National Forest. Of these hundreds of thousands of acres there are numerous ATV trails.

Most ATV trails in the Osceola National Forest are not marked or numbered, however there are usually current ATV trail maps available at the ranger's stations. There are a number of areas restricted to all traffic as they are wetlands and protected. Do not ride your ATV over these boundaries or you could be in for a hefty fine.

There are a few regulations to ride your ATV in Osceola National Forest, such as you much have a valid permit displayed on your ATV at all times, and you must have a current driving license.

You may not ride your ATV off trail in any wilderness areas or the Florida National Scenic Hiking Trail. If you are going to be in a campgrounds, picnic sites, and other developed areas, your ATV needs to be on a trailer or carried by other means of transportation when entering or leaving the area.

If your ATV is properly licensed, you can ride on any of the designated trails in this forest. The ATV trails are marked clearly by red posted signs.

Cross country travel (where there are no existing roads or trails) is prohibited on your ATV. Protect the environment and your privilege to ride in the National Forest by not riding in wetlands, lakes, ponds, or savannahs. Mud bogging with your ATV in these areas does extensive damage to the environment and is illegal. Riding in areas with moderate to steep slopes causes damage to both soil and vegetation follow the standards set forth by Treadlightly and help keep these trails open for years of ATVing fun to come.

No More ATVing At Savory Mountain State Forest

There will be no more ATVing at Savory Mountain State Forest, due to public safety concerns and the increasing impact on the environment. All ORV's, including ATV's, have damaged this place to the extent of having to close it off this year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.

This was a hard decision to make due to the monetary loss, but saving the forest and the ATV trails are more important. The DCR feels this has harmed the forest so much that it might not be a fixable situation.

The ATV's were not only harming the trails, but damaging the wetlands, eroding slopes, changing the soil conditions, and all of this, in turn, harms the wildlife. This puts the general public at risk as the animals leave their natural habitats and they wind up in areas populated by people..

The DCR inspects these forests on a regular basis, and their top priority is on public safety and the protection of the natural resources, thus the decision to close the ATV trails.

Savoy Mountain has previously been one of eight state forests where ORV use was allowed by DCR since 1996 and ATVer's have enjoyed all that this forest offered. Until the DCR feels that this particular forest is ready for ATVing, there are many other places that offers ATVer's the thrill they are seeking. They are just not sure if they can offer a opening date at this time, due to weather conditions and damage control from previous ATV riding that still needs to be done.

In the future, these ATV trails will be reopened, but will be more closely watched and it is up to ATV riders to respect the trails and vegetation by riding all ATV trails responsibly and helping keep your favorite riding areas open.

Towing Fun with the Sumo Tube

If you have ever wanted to look like a giant yellow and red strawberry, a Sumo Tube can satisfy that dream. It is obvious where the name Sumo Tube comes from. A water toy enthusiast jumps in a huge "sumo wrestler" sized inflatable body suit, puts their arms though the holes and lets the fun begin. The Sumo Tube is the next generation in water toys.

If you've already mastered water skis, boogie boards, jet skis, and knee boards, the Sumo Tube will give you something else to try. This toy is very versatile. You can use it to ride behind a boat while holding a 60 foot rope. You can also put it on just to body surf the waves on the beach. Either way, the Sumo Tube will provide hours of fun.

A neat attribute of the Sumo Tube is that it takes absolutely no skill. That's right! An average Joe can slip on the Sumo Tube and have just as much fun as a seasoned water sport fan. All you do is lay back and let the boat spin you and turn you to your heart's content. Its as easy as pie.

The Sumo Tube adds a new dimension to water toys. Not only can you jump waves and snake back and forth in the water, but you can also spin 360 degrees left to right while being pulled. You can do this without the risk of going underwater. Now you can body surf in style.

Your boating trip will never be the same without your Sumo Tube. You will be the talk of the cove. Be prepared for visitors to come calling. No one has ever seen anything like a Sumo Tube, and they will surely want to give it a try. The Sumo Tube will be the last water toy you buy.

Relax on the River with the Trek-n-Tube River Float

The Trek-n-Tube River Float is an ideal water toy for the sportsman. The versatile design and features make the Trek-n-Tube River Float perfect for the outdoorsman looking for an afternoon of fun.

Perhaps one of the most unique features of the Trek-n-Tube River Float is the travel backpack. The raft easily decompresses and can be stashed in the backpack for easy toting. This makes it possible to spend the morning hiking up to the river, and the afternoon floating down it. Everyone has more energy in the morning right after a good night's sleep and a full breakfast. Why not take advantage of that energy.

Other Trek-n-Tube River Float features worth note, are the cup holders and built in coolers. After a long hike, everyone needs a drink. The built in coolers can keep your beverage cold while the cup holders will allow your hands to be free. Not all other rafts have features like the Trek-n-Tube River Tube. Take advantage of it.

The comfortable design is a definite plus to the Trek-N-Tube River Tube. It allows your body to sink into the center while leaning on the back rest. Do all this while dangling your feet over the edge and letting your toes graze the water. It doesn't get more cozy then that!

If storage has been an issue for you in the past, it no longer will be. The Trek-N-Tube River Tube sports two storage pockets on the side of the back rest. Here you can put your lunch, sunglasses, a radio, or a book. What ever you need, the trek-N-Tube River Tube allows you to take it with you.

The Trek-N-Tube River Tube knows how important relaxation is. The goal of the Trek-N-Tube River Tube is to make your afternoon as stress-free as possible.

Withlacoochee State Forest ATV Trails

Withlacoochee State Forest is a not too often visited place to ride your ATV. The weather is good nearly all year around in Florida, so it is a great place to get away and ride your ATV.

Most of the ATV trails are open all year round and as with the Aplachicola National Forest, these ATV trails are not clearly marked and the Forest Rangers Service has not issued ATV trail maps, so make sure and have your GPS with you in case you get turned around in these densely foliaged areas. So far the Withlacoochee State Forest is divided into 8 separate tracts of land. These areas are being set up for sound eco-management and will translate fully to the ATV trails as time goes by. In the meantime, they ask that you adhere to the standards set forth by Treadlightly when riding these ATV trails.

There is a huge variety of plants and trees to see while riding your ATV in this forest. Just a few of the varieties of trees you will see are : slash pine, long leaf pine, cypress and a mixture of live oak, maple, southern magnolia, gum and hickory (the live oak trees are the ones that have Spanish moss hanging down from the limbs).

There are numerous ATV trails to go through and several small streams to ford. Be sure you know the correct way to navigate your ATV through these areas or you may well be stuck. Having a buddy along for the ATV ride that has a winch and never, ever go ATVing alone. As with all National Forest managed lands, riding your ATV in Withlacoochee requires that you have wear a DOT approved helmet, a valid driving license and since the foliage is so dense, there is a lot of wisdom in wearing safety gear to protect your arms, legs, and chest from slapping tree and shrubbery branches.

How to Maintain ATV Tires

The job of maintaining the tires on an ATV is not hard if done before every run. A good rule of thumb regarding ATV tires is "Treat them right and they will treat you right". ATV tires are unique because they are designed the deliver the best traction over all kinds of terrain.

The following, are some tips of getting the best wear out of your ATV tires.

ATV tires require a low air pressure. This is what makes them unique. Always maintain the exact air pressure that the manufacture requires. Check it every time you plan on doing a run on your ATV. Use a low pressures gauge or the dial up kind. Under inflated ATV tires, can lead to damage of the rim, and you don't want that, a little preventive maintenance can save you a lot of grief and money.

If you over inflate, this will lead to premature ATV tire wear. Even though it gives you more speed on the hard trails, it is more prone to puncture damage because the ATV tire can't deflect over sharp objects.

Riding on pavement is very hard on your ATV tires, not to mention unsafe, and illegal in most places. Pounding the pavement with your ATV tires wears out the corners of each tire tread, resulting in less traction on slick clay or soft terrain. If you must ride your ATV on a road, keep the speed down to reduce the friction and the heat building up on the tires. Don't spin the tires on gravel or slide through turns.

Remember the original tire that comes on your ATV is designed to deliver good traction and perform in a variety of conditions. Read about the different ATV tires that you can get. A lot depends on what terrain you ride on. If where you run your ATV varies, you may want to get the style of tire that is better suited for different terrain styles.

The SportStuff ThunderDome

The Thunder Dome is the most versatile children's water toy on the market today. There are so many possibilities for fun when you buy a Thunder Dome water toy.

The most popular use for the Thunder Dome is climbing mountain. This water toy is shaped like the top of a dome and is equipped with foot and hand holds to assist the entire climb up. Children can race to the top and play "King of the Mountain" over the water.

Another use for the Thunder Dome is a water slide. When used this way, the Thunder Dome still resembles a dome. Children can climb to the top and then slide on down. This is perfect for the lake where waterslides are uncommon. After all the hard work of climbing to the top of the Thunder Dome, children are rewarded with an exciting slide back down. Then the cycle repeats itself.

Now it is time to flip the Thunder Dome upside down. It now resembles a bowl. Your kids can jump and run around in this bouncy bowl while it bobs and sways in the water. They can also duck down and escape on the floating island. They can also use it as a teeter-totter. One child sits on one side of the Thunder Dome while the other child sits opposite them. The options are endless. Your children will amaze you by coming up with so many more uses. The Thunder Dome will spark their imaginations to go places it has never gone before.

Sometimes the simplest designs make the best toys. The Thunder Dome is a perfect example of that statement. No other time has a simple dome been so much fun! Your child will love the endless possibilities the Thunder Dome possesses. The Thunder Dome is a great water toy innovation for any family.

Thrill Zone - Thrilling Fun

The Thrill Zone will transform your backyard into an amusement park. With five fantastic features, the Thrill Zone will provide hours of endless fun for your children.

The first feature the Thrill Zone sports is a net enclosed bouncing area. If you have ever been to a carnival and had your child beg to bounce in the giant bouncer, the Thrill Zone is for you. Carnival bouncers allow many children to bounce at one time. This can be dangerous. With the Thrill Zone, your child can safely and gleefully bounce to his/her heart's content.

Another Thrill Zone feature is the climbing wall. It is equipped with hand and foot holds to assist on the journey. If your child ever had any extra energy, say goodbye to it on this climbing wall. It will take all their energy and they will love it.

A great place to play hide-and-seek on the Thrill Zone is in the built-in tunnel. Here children can escape from the sun or imagine they have traveled to a far off cave. This tunnel will spark their imagination to go places it never has gone before.

There are two water features on the Thrill Zone your children will adore. Perhaps the most popular feature is the giant water slide. At the end of the water slide is a landing pool. Kids love to slide as quickly as they can down the slide and compete for the biggest splash. Don't worry parents. The slide on the Thrill Zone is equipped with safety side rails.

The other water feature on the Thrill Zone is the Sprinkler. Children love dashing through sprinklers on a hot day. Their shrieks of laughter will carry all through the neighborhood.

In a day when video games are the hottest toys for children, the Thrill Zone is a welcome change. Children need to run, jump, and play. They need to wear themselves out having fun. The Thrill Zone allows children to have a great time while getting exercise at the same time.

Can I Ride ATVs At Pittsfield State Forest?

You can ride all you want at Pittsfield State Forest,as long as you follow the rules and don't abuse the land on your ATV.

This state forest is located in western Massachusetts. Take the turnpike to exit 2 then to route 20. From there, it's just a matter of following the signs till you reach the forest entrance.

The Pittsfield State Forest is a wonderful place to go ATVing. It offers 9,695-acres of pure wilderness. It has streams, waterfalls, and lots of flowering shrubs. There are 65 acres alone of wild azaleas that give off pink blooms in the spring.

When ATVing here, you might consider camping over as well. This is such a beautiful place, one day doesn't do it justice. As these trails offer ATVer's a full 30 miles of trails that will take you deeply into the woods, one day may not be enough time to see all this forest has to offer.

While out ATVing, you might come across Berry Pond. This is a very picturesque place, it being one of the highest natural water bodies in Massachusetts at 2,150 feet.

While out having a good time on your ATV, look out of others. This is a very popular forest and all sorts of sportsmen and people just out enjoying nature, are out and about exploring and taking it all in, you are likely to run into other ATVers, horseback riders, the occasional hunter if it is hunting season, and mountain bikers.

Keep safety at the top of your list. Use common sense and make sure everything is done with safety in mind. Make sure your ATV is in top running order, no leaks, or loose wires and check the tires and the plugs.

If you do all of this and more, you will certainly enjoy all that Pittsfield State Forest has to offer.

Ocala National Forest ATV Riding

Riding your ATV in Ocala National Forest is a fun time you'll never forget.

There is a temporary closure of 8,200 acres in the southwest portion of the forest will affect Off-Road Vehicle users. Unfortunately, this closure to ATV riders is the result of a few ATV riders being irresponsible when the majority of ATVers are safety conscious, responsible riders.

Those forest lands have been closed off to ATV riding to give the land time to reclaim itself and let the new growth take over so they can be reopened under stricter guidelines with the intention of having stricter guidelines and clearly marked trails so certain areas can be closed off at the first sign of overuse by ATVs and allowed to heal. During that time other trails will be opened so ATV riders can continue to enjoy the Oscala National Forest.

Not only are some ATV riders blatantly damaging areas, the sheer number of ATV riders is overwhelming the capability of the land. The message is clear to off-road riders, if you want to continue to use the Forest, you must ride your ATVs more responsibly on these lands.

The Forest Service originally initiated an access designation process out of concern for the rapid increase of not only ATV, but all forms of off-highway vehicle use. The first phase of that process is nearly complete with a final decision on an Environmental Impact Statement due to be signed and implemented soon. Phase two of the process will address all areas not covered in the first phase and will follow immediately after phase one. This should help heal and reclaim the damaged areas so that a new generation of ATV riders can enjoy these pristine forest lands on their ATVs for years to come.

What Are Some Ways of Hauling Your ATV?

There are several ways of hauling your ATV when going to the trails that you love so much. There is the conventional trailer that you pull with your truck or SUV. They come in all kinds of designs and sizes that will best fit your ATV and life style.

There is the trailer that has a tilt bed. It weighs over 300 lbs. and can haul over 1500 lbs. It is a multi-purpose design that can be used to carry, not only your ATV, but any other OTV. Remember that the plywood may not be included with your trailer. Ask before you buy.

If you are considering on taking a friend or even better, your spouse, you might want to get a double wide ATV trailer, which comes 6' X 8' instead of the 4' X 8' single. The double ATV trailer can carry two ATV's and will cost somewhere between $200-300 more than the single ATV trailer, which starts at just over $500.

These ATV trailers come in aluminum, steel, and some are even covered. Aluminum ATV trailers are recommended because they are lighter which, with the gas situation it is today, makes them the better choice for better gas mileage. This type of medal does bend more, so keep that in mind when loading and unloading your ATV's.

Steel is a much better choice, as far as wear and tear. It will hold up better, is a stronger metal, but it will rust and should be treated, especially if the trailer will be stored out of doors or will experience a lot of inclimate weather.

The covered trailer, for your ATV, is more expensive, but will provide you with security when you are not around. You will also not have to load and unload them every time you decide to take your ATV's out for some fun. The cost of this type of trailer will cost about the same as what you paid for your ATV.

Now that you know some great choices to make for hauling your ATV, happy hauling!

12' Trampoline Playstation

The 12' Trampoline Playstation will have your kids screaming, "Hey mom, I can fly!". This giant 12' water trampoline will be the talk of the water.

The number one element this 12' trampoline provides is fun. If regular trampolines were ever fun, trampolines over the water are even better! Your kids can spend the day swimming in the water or jumping on the trampoline over the water. It also provides a great diving board for experienced divers. Children can jump off the trampoline doing cannon balls and competing for the biggest splash. Then they can climb up the contoured ladder to do it all over again.

The second element of the 12' trampoline playstation is safety. Trampolines have never been known for being safe. As a matter-of-fact, trampolines are considered by most to be quite dangerous. Numerous children have been injured with broken limbs by jumping off and landing on their arms or legs wrong. The 12' trampoline Playstation is different. This trampoline resides over the water instead of dry land. Water is the best buffer for a fall. There are no poles to hit or netting to get caught in. The 12' trampoline Playstation is the safest trampoline on the market today.

Another element of safety on the trampoline Playstation is the anchoring device. You are able to anchor the trampoline in one place so that it doesn't move out from under your children and so you know exactly where it will stay.

The 12' trampoline Playstation is a great way to wear out a child. There is nothing more fun to a child then water. Trampolines come in at a close second. Can you imagine if those two elements were put together? The 12' Trampoline Playstation has done just that.

If you haven't already purchased the 12' trampoline Playstation, your children will beg you until you do.

Apalachicola National Forest ATV Riding

Apalachicola National Forest is good for ATV riding. The 564,000-acre forest -Florida's largest includes stands of exotic cypress, live oak and magnolia trees. Framed by Tallahassee and Interstate 10 to the north and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, the area boasts a year-round temperate climate, with a yearly average of 340 days of sunshine and 75-degree temperatures. It's a virtual oasis for almost any sort of recreation, especially ATV riding and with Tallahassee so close by, there's plenty to do for the entire family.

In addition to ATV riding, other available recreational activities include swimming, boating, fishing, hunting and camping. For hikers and bicyclists, a portion of the Florida National Scenic Trail and the Munon Hills Off-Road Bicycle Trail offer opportunities for exploration of remote forest areas. Be aware of these other types of traffic when riding your ATV in this area.

Currently, there are no ATV Trail maps for these trails, but the U.S. Forest service is working to have them available to ATV riders. Since there are no markings for the ATV riders in some areas, many ATV riders go trailblazing which unfortunately causes a lot of damage to the terrain and the reason there will be marked ATV trails and maps to follow on your ride in the near future.

There is a large number of alligators, snakes and other local wildlife that inhabit this area, alligators are notoriously shy and mostly if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. Navigate your ATV widely around any wildlife you encounter, that is the safest action for both you and the animal. You'd be well advised to stay away from the Tate's Hell Swamp area in the southern part of the forest. It's a breeding ground for the deadly water moccasin, so consequently the area is heavily infested with these creatures.

Apalachicola has a lot of lush forest and wildlife to see on your ATV ride.

The ATV Trails of Big Cypress National Preserve

This is an exotic place to ride your ATV. The first National Preserve in the National Park System, Big Cypress has a mixture of pines, hardwoods, prairies, mangrove forests, and cypress strands. Numerous wildlife residents and plants call this preserve home such as white-tailed deer, bear and Florida panther can be found here along with the more tropical linguus tree snail, royal palm and cigar orchid.

This meeting place of temperate and tropical species is a hotbed of biological diversity. Hydrologically, the Preserve serves as a supply of fresh, clean water for the vital estuaries of the ten thousand islands area near Everglades City. There are numerous places on these trails where you will be crossing water. Be sure that you know the proper techniques for fording small streams on your ATV. If done correctly, little to no damage will occur from your ATV. Improper riding techniques account for the majority of ATV trail damage.

If you are riding your ATV in the early morning or early evening hours, you will see many of the wildlife residents and perhaps even the elusive and notoriously shy Florida panther.

To ride your ATV in this preserve you must apply for an permit. The Off-Road Vehicle Permit System For Big Cypress National Preserve is a 3-Step Process to obtain an off-road vehicle permit for use of an ATV, ATC, Swamp Buggy or Street Legal - 4 X 4, in the Big Cypress National Preserve: 1) an operator's permit (free), 2) an inspection sticker (free), and 3) an annual vehicle
permit ($50.00 per year) are required. Motorcycles and other two-wheeled vehicles are not permitted in the preserve backcountry.

You should be aware that permit sales are on a first-come, first-served basis at this time, but a drawing system may be used as demand approaches the 2,000 permit limit. Permits are not transferable between vehicles.

The Acrobat Solo is a staple in water toy designs. Taking a different spin on the old fashioned inner tube, the Acrobat Solo has revolutionized water fun for all ages young and old.

Although the Acrobat Solo is designed for only one person to ride, there are ten separate handles. This may confuse riders, but the intention is for a single passenger to have multiple angle gripping choices. Different grips allow for various riding difficulties. The further someone grips on the side of the Acrobat Solo, the more thrilling the ride.

The Acrobat Solo is one water toy that has something above all others. It is safe. Many water toys now-a-days are designed for thrilling rides but safety isn't taken into consideration. Riding ATVs in Georgetown-Rowley State Forest

Georgetown-Rowley State Forest, is a great place to ride your ATV. These trails are full of dry terrain that makes for fantastic ATVing. For some reason, the ridges tend to stay dry, even after a rain. It is a place for ATVers of all levels of experience to enjoy.

You can connect your ATV ride and make it even longer, by riding from Willowdale State Forest.

The terrain is flat with some short steep climbs and descents. These ATV trails beg you to go fast, just use some common sense. There are others out there and you want to make sure no one gets hurt. This place is 1,112-acres of forest and some of the best ATV trails around.

These ATV trails are bordered by private property and certain areas are gated off and closed to ATVs, so make sure you are going slow enough to pay attention to these. These ATV trails used by other sports enthusiasts as well, so be aware of the other people as you ride these ATV trails.

This flat terrain can kick up a lot of dust debris, be sure along with your helmet, you are wearing goggles. Long sleeves and knee protection is a great idea too as a rock that got kicked up by someone else's ATV that comes flying into your leg isn't going to feel bad if you're wearing some high boots.

Georgetown-Rowley State Forest is a great ride on your ATV no matter what your skill level, next time you're in the area, bring your ATV for a day of fun!

Flat Rock/Ice Cream ATV Trail

Taking your ATV on the trails of Flat Rock Trail aka, "Ice Cream Trail" will be a blast with a capital B. The reason for the name Ice Cream Trail is because, it has been a long standing tradition to stop at a local place and have some ice cream after running the ATV trails.

This ATV trail starts around route 2 and goes all the way to Savoy State Forest. It is about 2 and a half miles long, with some of the best flat riding for ATVers.

These ATV trails will test your wits because they are so flat. Speed will become something you will want to do, just be careful. As in all trails, other people will be around, and you are likely to encounter wildlife in the early morning and evening hours, so keep the speed down to where you feel you can control it.

While on this ATV trail, you will notice that it will take you right into Savoy State Forest, this will make for a longer run for you.
Keep safety on the top of your list when going ATVing. Do a complete maintenance check on your ATV before your trip. Make sure things are tight, tires good, and all systems are ready to go.

Wear the appropriate gear, including your ATV helmet and goggles. This is to protect you from debris flying back at you, and in this area of the ATV trails it's a good idea to be wearing long sleeves and boots.

You may not wish to follow the tradition and have an ice cream after a day of ATVing, but definitely make it a point to bring some lunch and water with you on your ATV run.

Enjoy your run at Ice Cream Trail, it's a great time for all.
