The Soo Line North Trail is a 148-mile 4-wheeler trail that is made up of three main sections. Moose Lake to Lawler, from Lawler to Shovel Lake, from Shovel Lake to Cass Lake. This 4-wheeler trail is for 4-wheeler riders only and that should be the only traffic you encounter on these trails. There are several large bogs in the area, so make sure you know the proper techniques for fording watery obstacles in your 4-wheeler's path.
Portions of this 4-wheeler run through the Hill River State Forest, Bowstring State Forest, and Chippewa National Forest. These are well maintained and densely forested areas and if you ride your 4-wheeler in the early morning or early evening hours, you are likely to encounter many of the forest residents as there is an abundance of wildlife.
Portions of this 4-wheeler trail are open April 1 - November 30 and other areas are open all year round. Check with the local Forest Office that manages the trail areas before hauling your 4-wheeler out to make sure these 4-wheeler trails are open for riding.
All of these 4-wheeler trails are rated easy and fantastic for newer 4-wheeler riders to learn valuable maneuvering skills as there are few obstacles and the terrain for riding an 4-wheeler is almost road like. The flat terrain makes for some easy handling of your 4-wheeler. More experienced 4-wheeler riders will enjoy the easy ride and the scenery.
