Located in southwest Colorado, the Dry Creek Trail is an ideal trail for experienced 4-wheeler enthusiasts. Once called the Old Dry Creek Stock Driveway, this 4-wheeler trail is just over 12 miles long trail was once mainly used by farmers to transport animals. This is much less common now, as farmers prefer more modernized routes, and you are unlikely to encounter any of them while riding your 4-wheeler on the trail. Getting to Dry Creek is easy. Take Highway 15 for 2 miles, and then take a right on County Road 2 south. Take this road for about 3.5 miles, make a right turn at the fork, drive for 3 miles and take a right at the intersection at Dry Creek and drive for 4 miles until you get to the 4-wheeler trailhead.
Your 4-wheeler adventure at Dry Creek Trail begins in a lush country area and you steadily begin to climb up towards the Peak of Bennett Mountain, which has an elevation of about 13,000 feet. While riding your 4-wheeler on Dry Creek Trail you will get access to some simply amazing views of the area around you. However, due both to the high elevation and the rocky nature of the trail you must be a very experienced 4-wheeler rider as this is a difficult and challenging ride and most definitely not for beginning 4-wheeler riders.
Colorado is known for it's rapid weather changes, storms can roll in and roll out just as quickly. Because of the high incidence of lightening in these storms, if you happen to be riding your 4-wheeler, take cover -the storm will pass quickly! This is one exciting 4-wheeler trail to ride and just remember to be safe and have fun riding your 4-wheeler at Dry Creek!
