The Pike National Forest has a 4-mile long 4-wheeler trail that is often overlooked because it is so small. This little stretch of trail is rated easy and if you are a beginning 4-wheeler rider or you just want a relaxing ride to admire the scenery, this is the place for you to go. The trail is open from May through October.
Newer 4-wheeler riders can practice important maneuvering skills on their 4-wheelers as well as pick up new ones. The 4-wheeler trail is densely foliaged and doesn't get a huge amount of traffic but you can expect to see people from time to time when you ride this trail system. You have the potential to run into other 4-wheeler riders, hikers, bikers, and motorcycle riders at any point because this 4-wheeler trail connects with trails 657, 674, 676, and 677.
Since this is a National Forest managed land, be sure to wear your helmet as required at all times and no passengers are allowed on 4-wheelers, even two-seaters. You will need to register your 4-wheeler at the Ranger's station where your 4-wheeler will be inspected to insure you have a noise muffler and a spark arrestor installed.
Upon passing inspection, you will be given a permit to ride and that permit must be displayed in an easy-to-see position on your 4-wheeler. They also ask that you adhere to the standards set forth by Treadlightly. You will be protecting the natural riding resources of the area by doing so.
