Getting a 4-Wheeler Trail Near Your Home

There are 4-wheeler trails near and far but for those 4-wheeler riders who seem to find them more far rather than near most of the time, here is a suggestion. There are times when you just have to take the bull by the horns and create your own riding trails. If you love to run 4-wheelers with your family and friends as outdoor recreation, making trails to ride near your home is a great idea.

If you are an 4-wheeler rider lucky enough to live close to a county, state, national, or possibly private area where there are some limited trails, you could always write letters, emails, or make phone calls to give voice to your opinion trails should be expanded. City Council is a great way to get your voice heard. You could form an 4-wheeler group who regularly rides these areas and become involved in finding out how they were created and how they are maintained. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) can give you some valuable pointers about the federally managed lands in your area and if you have a riding group, you can usually arrange to "adopt" a trail.

The best way for an 4-wheeler group to expand on their local 4-wheeler riding venues is to see find an area in which you want to ride, find out who owns or manages the land and then if it is not private property you can probably arrange to make riding trails for your group and the public at large to enjoy.

Have regular clean ups and maintenance done on the trails. This is a fun way to meet and ride on a regular basis plus do something great for the environment. You can raise money to improve riding areas and add pluses such as picnic shelters, or children's play areas.
