Ready to test your 4-wheeler handling skills? In the South Central Region of Colorado is one of the smallest, yet most challenging 4-wheeler trails you will encounter. The Mount Rosa Trail while small in length is a real test of your 4-wheeler abilities.
As with many of the trail systems in this area, this is a multi-use trail and you may see other 4-wheeler riders, motorcyclists, or mountain bikers, but since the trail has a high difficulty rating, its use is very light by all off road vehicle traffic and in many excursions you will find your group will have this trail all to yourselves. The riding season for this 4-wheeler trail is June through September and although it is just over a mile in length, this 4-wheeler trail climbs to an elevation of 1,449 during your ride.
The Mount Rosa 4-Wheeler Trail climbs Mt. Rosa which stands at an elevation of 11,499- feet in just a little over one mile. Then follow Mount Rosa ATV Trail proper that will begin around Forest Development Road 381. On this 4-wheeler ride there are a serious of steep switchbacks that will take you from 10,000 feet to 10,900 feet. Follow the 4-wheeler trail to the left as it forks and ride the ridgeline to the summit of Mount Rosa. The 4-wheeler trail may also be accessed from St. Mary's Falls Trail and may be used as a switcharound. There are steep switchbacks at the 6th mile that make this a challenging 4-wheeler trail. The round-trip mileage is 12 miles for this 4-wheeler trail.
