Check Out the Great 4-Wheeling at Lost Creek Trail

Located in the Southwest Region of Colorado and managed by the Rio Grande National Forest, Lost Creek trail is a jewel of a 4-wheeler ride. The riding season is relatively short from May through October and the prospect of finding snow on the 4-wheeler trails during your ride in the early or late part of the 4-wheeler riding season is quite high.

This 4-wheeler trail only gets light to moderate use and is not too difficult for newer and inexperienced 4-wheeler riders. These trails are multi-use and also used not only by other 4-wheeler riders but hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers and you will encounter the occasional person on their way to go fishing as you ride your 4-wheeler on this trail.

Lost Creek Trail is about 11 miles long and has excellent scenery to view while you ride the 4-wheeler trails as well as good fishing. If you have a permit to show (just in case) and you brought your fishing gear on your 4-wheeler, make a stop and throw a line in!

You will also see a lot of mining activity both old and new near Carson Pass on the Continental Divide. If you're a more experienced 4-wheeler rider, take the short but steep side trip and check out the mining up close and personal. If you're interested in camping out on this 4-wheeler trail ride, there is an excellent spot available if you take a side trip to Heart Lake.

There are several trail junctions on this 4-wheeler trail that offer opportunities the loop around and head back, the final loop around is at Cataract Lake Trail just before the final 3 miles of this 4-wheeler trail. You will find that most of this 4-wheeler trail is marked, however if you lose track of the trail, look for stock driveway signs and they will guide you back on the trail. Next time you're in the Rio Grande National Forest, take a tour on Lost Creek Trail on your 4-wheeler!
