4-Wheeling at Miner's Creek

If you are looking for a fun day on your 4-wheeler, look no further than the Southwest Region of Colorado at the Miners Creek Trail.

This trail is managed by the Rio Grande National Forest and the riding season on this 4-wheeler trail is from June through September. As with many of the National Forest trails, you will be sharing them with hikers, horseback riders, motorcycles, mountain bikers, and the occasional fisherman on his way to see if the fish are biting.

Because of the remote location, the use on this 4-wheeler trail is very light and the difficulty rating is only moderate making this a great 4-wheeler trail to bring newer riders or inexperienced 4-wheeler riders to let them have the opportunity to hone their maneuvering skills on their 4-wheelers and gain confidence with steering techniques.

This 4-wheeler trail is 7 miles long and has some great fishing opportunities along the way. The opportunity to view elk is possible if your schedule your 4-wheeler ride in the early morning hours and late evenings. Bring your camera to capture an elk - they are truly majestic. There are several good camping sites that are along this 4-wheeler trail, pull over and set up camp!

The 4-wheeler trail crosses Miners Creek several times in the first 2 miles of this 4-wheeler trail. Be very aware that crossing Miners Creek during the early summer can be dangerous due to runoff. This is a very scenic 4-wheeler trail, and if you look to the West you will see the view of the white chalk-like cliffs that are present at the head of Miners Creek. The 4-wheeler trail, although densely foliaged in some places, is well marked and signed so even inexperienced 4-wheeler riders should be able to follow the trail signs and stay on the path with little effort. Even the ending of this 4-wheeler trail is a breeze, it ends in an open meadow where it is easy to loop around and go back.
