A 4-wheeler can make for some fun memories for both yourself and your kids. 4-wheelers, also known as all terrain vehicles, are a lot of fun to ride and come in a variety of sizes. They are not designed for road use, but are perfect for paths, yards, and trails. Riding 4-wheelers is a great way for kids to spend time outdoors and get fresh air and exercise, things that are generally lacking in the lives of many kids.

Wearing proper gear like a helmet, gloves, goggles and boots at the very least is a must for any child or adult who is riding a 4-wheeler. Most commercial lots where 4-wheelers kids and adults can ride do not allow any riding unless a helmet is on the head of the rider. Ditto for most trails that allow 4-wheelers to be driven upon, generally the rule is no helmet, no riding your 4-wheeler. Good 4-wheeler safety is continued with proper clothing for the rider. Long sleeved pants and shirts or even better, jersey material is the best bet for protecting your arms and legs when you ride your 4-wheeler.

If you are a newer owner of a 4-wheeler or you have a young rider under the age of 15 who will be operating a 4-wheeler, it may be the law in your state that you and/or your child participate in a 4-wheeler safety course. 4-wheelers can be great fun for all ages and are a wonderful way for parents to spend time with their kids getting away from the office, school, chores, housework and other duties that keep children and parents apart.
