Wyoming is a great place to own an ATV and the Dead horse ATV trail system that is located in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest is a great place to ride. The ATV trail system located within the Wasatch-Cache National Forest was developed based on response to numerous requests by the public to create riding trails in a National Forest Area.
Like most National Forest lands, you will need to follow some regulations to ride legally on these lands. You will need to obtain a permit for riding your ATV on these trails, and that permit much be displayed in a prominent location at all times. The Forest Rangers will inspect your ATV to insure it is in good basic working order, your spark arrestor and noise muffler are installed correctly and that you have the proper safety gear along for the ride which includes goggles and a full face DOT approved helmet for riding your ATV.

It can be deceiving to start your ATV ride in the morning on a clear and sunny day and then in the afternoon as you're going up the mountain with your friends, violent storms have developed. The weather can change rapidly. If you see storms coming, park your ATV and take cover. Dangerous lightning and hail are both possibilities, and never take shelter under a tree.
