If you've been looking forward to taking your ATV out of winter storage and riding an extreme ATV trail, Red Code/ Webster Pass is the adventure you've been looking for.
The Red Cone and Webster Pass ATV trail should only be considered by experienced ATVers. This is not a ride to bring newer ATVers on to let them learn harder trails. This ride has a lot of loops and bends and it is very steep. The ATV trail, can be very deceiving because it does not look very steep. Don't let that fool you, it is and be prepared for that. It will take approximately 3 - 5 hours to ride the whole ATV trail.
The elevation of the mountain is 12,801ft and is 20 miles long. It winds very close to the edge of the mountain and the turns are very sharp, so use caution on your ATV. Make safety an even higher priority than usual on this ATV ride. Let someone back home know where you are going and what trails you will be riding. Additionally, pack along water and a first aid kit if you don't already. The weather can turn fast in this area so be aware in the event of a storm, lightning is likely. Take cover but never under a tree.
You can get to the ATV trail, by taking I-70, take exit 205 at Dillon and head east on US 6 and follow the signs towards Montezuma. At 0.5 miles east of Montezuma, the ATV trail begins at a sign marked F.R. 285.
This is a thrilling ATV ride. You will get to experience some wonderful scenery as your roll through this ATV trail. It goes through a lush forested area and then above the reline is where the trail becomes steep and rocky. When you make it to the top of this ATV trail you will be richly rewarded with a view of rolling green slopes and the peak of the mountains.
