There are four loops for ATVing designated in the Talladega National Forest. The rating for all four of these trails is easy to moderate and this is a great ride for anyone who is new to ATVing and would like some actual trail riding experience.
Each of the loops is set up as follows:
9 Miles (15.0 Kilometers) Loop 1
5 Miles (8.33 Kilometers) Loop 2
2.5 Miles (4.17 Kilometers) Loop 3
6.5 Miles (10.83 Kilometers) Loop 4
These are multi-use trails and your likelihood of running into other traffic such as motorcycles, other ATV's and mountain bikes is very likely because these are such easy trails to navigate. If you're new to ATVing, ride defensively.
The ATV trail has gentle inclines and wide, sweeping turns and mostly smooth flat surface with very few obstacles to overcome. The part of the trail rated moderately difficult is in Loop 3 and has steeper grades, tight and steep turns, sections of rough terrain, and some rock and log obstacles.
Newer ATV riders will enjoy the chance to test out their handling skills on some of these rougher terrains. Make sure you have an experienced ATV rider with your to insure you learn to take on these embankments properly and learn proper handling skills of your ATV. If you feel that you're not ready, don't ride it. The trail will still be there when you have more experience.
The fee to get in the Talladega National Forest to ride your ATV is a very reasonable $3 and the entire ATV trailride runs about 6 hours for most people.
