George Washington National Forest has a challenging ATV trail for your next ride. The South Pedlar ATV Trail System is a well designed looping network of approximately 25 miles of trails designed specifically for ATVs. The trail system features trails ranging from wide and easy to narrow, twisting and challenging. None of the trails in this ATV trail system are overly steep or technically challenging. If you have been riding an ATV just a short time and you are well acquainted with the basics of riding your ATV, you will have a great time on these trails.
You do not have to pay a fee or get a permit to ride these ATV trails. However you do have to allow the Park Rangers to inspect your ATV and verify that you have a spark arrestor and noise muffler in place, prior to riding your ATV in this area. The views on this trail system are varied and many. As you ride your ATV in this area you are likely to see vistas that stretch out and touch the sky, groves of large trees, and spectacular mountainside blooms in season. These are multi-use trails and you will be sharing them with other ATVers, motorbikes, and mountain bikes. This ATV trail is easy to get to and has two trailhead parking lots, both accessed off SR 130.
