Salmon Area Snowmobile Trails
Located north of Challis in Central Idaho, the Salmon Area Snowmobile Trails are just behind the Rocky Mountains and are right next to the Continental Divide. This beautiful area spans over 255 mile of groomed snowmobile trails that are sure to please snowmobiling enthusiasts of all kinds and types. Some of the trails offer you access to other areas such as the educational Ghost Town of Leesburg, or high class riding along the aforementioned Continental Trail.
Once you have had all of the snowmobiling fun you could handle for the day, you will probably be hungry, or you may want to cool off and rest for awhile. The town of Salmon and it's surrounding area can certainly fulfill those needs, as there are many restaurants and lodging facilities in the area, as well as many gas stations, snowmobile repair shops in case you'd had a mishap, and malls and shopping centers as well.
While riding your snowmobile on the Salmon Area Snowmobile Trails it is very crucial that you respect the land. Do not litter or harm the area in any way, and do not stray from the designated riding areas and trails, and these rules are strictly enforced. Periodically, old trails are closed and new ones are opened to allow the terrain to reclaim itself. It is also strongly recommended that you be very considerate of any wildlife you may come encounter while riding your snowmobile in the area. Though most of the wildlife in the area hibernate or migrate during the winter, some do not and you may encounter them. There are many different types of endangered wildlife located on the Salmon Area Snowmobile Trails and you should not interact with or harm these animals in any way.
