Things to Take When Taking an Overnight ATV Trip

Planning an overnight ATV trip? There are several apparel items, safety items, as well as camping supplies you should remember to bring on your trip.

The first category of items you need to take is apparel. Perhaps the most important item is a helmet. ATVing is an extreme sport and should be practiced with extreme precautions. Riding with a helmet not only protects your head from spills, but also protects you from falling rock and debris if you are trekking through a mountainous area. Another handy piece of apparel is a pair of boots. Special boots designed for ATV riders protect shins from extreme heat caused by ATV engines. They also protect your feet from moisture to keep them dry. If you are looking to do some serious ATVing, gloves can come in handy as well. When traveling at high speeds or rocky terrain, ungloved hands can blister with your tight grip. Gloves will prevent this from occurring.

There are some safety items one should bring on an overnight ATV trip. A first aid kit is a must! Kits that contain such things as bandages, gauze, scissors, and antibacterial ointment can prevent simple scrapes from ending an entire day of ATV riding. Another thing to take along on your ATV experience is a rope. Many ATV treks include journeying through mud and water. Sometimes 4WD vehicles can get stuck in these places. With the aid of a fellow ATVer and some rope, you can easily pull yourself out.

You will need some camping supplies if you are going to spend the night on an ATV trip. Supplies to bring include a tent, sleeping bag, food, and water. Food and water should not only be at your campsite, but also with you when you venture out on your ATV. Many ATV trails do not have places to stop to get a drink of water. Having your own canteen is a must.

Staying overnight on an ATV trip can take some planning. No one ever said fun was easy. Just remember to bring normal camping supplies with a few ATV extras and you will be all set.
