Red Tables Road is considered an easy ATV trail. This means that this is the perfect place for the beginner to get to know his ATV and what ATV trails are all about.
The ATV trail lasts for about 17 miles with an elevation of 3410 FT. It is in the NW. part of the state in Eagle county, with the location being in White River National Forest.
To get to this ATV trail, travel east on Hwy 82 to El Jabel, from Carbondale. Turn left at the light and follow the road past Spring Park Reservoir. Turn left at the fork, after the reservoir. Then in 2 miles, turn right at the fork, following the sign to Cottonwood Pass. Right after the pass, turn right onto Red Tables road.
You can reach this ATV trail by two wheel drive for awhile, then the road becomes rougher, and 4WD must take over. The ATV trail travels through some very dense forests with some mighty high alpines. The ATV trail has the most spectacular 360 degree view, once you get on top of the ridge line.
Remember to always check the weather, and have a radio with you at all times. The climate can change very fast on these mountains, and the ATV trails, can become slick and very muddy.This would be a good time for the reminder of goggles and boots.
Safety is something that has to take top priority, when riding the ATV trail. Your helmet is your best defense for your head, and gloves for that extra grip you might need. Be on the look out for any fallen trees or any kind of debris that might be on the ATV trail.
