This is the second year that Spider Lake Of The Rubicon Trail has been closed to all motorized vehicles.It was determined that there has been lots of resource damage, so a closing was in order.
Resource damage is considered motorized vehicles getting off the designated path, and driving over rocks and bushes, thus destroying the natural resources.
This time, when they refer to motorized vehicles, they are referring to ATV's.There seems to be a prejudice for ATV's and the ATVer's themselves.
The closer is smaller this year than last year, but to the dismay of ATVer's,it seems to be a management problem. The management that over sees this area, has not, in the opinion of Friends of the Rubicon Trail, bothers to fix any of the problems that have been pointed out.
It is of opinion, that until communication between the two are worked out, this issue will remain dormant.
So while I have you here, why not go over some safety issues that all ATV'ers need to know before venturing out into ATVing.
Your gear is of utmost importance. A helmet, pair of gloves, some boots, and goggles for your eyes, are what you need to protect your body.
Make sure your ATV is in top running order. Do a complete mechanical check up on it.Plugs, oil and check for any leaks or torn wires.
All ATVer's must keep alert and keep a look out for debris, or other activity, that may be going on around you. People, wildlife, and fallen trees can be a nightmare for the ATVer not paying attention.
With all of this, your ATV adventure will be fun and very memorable. Just know that being a smart Atv'er is the best way to have a great time in the sport of ATVing.
