The Pike State Forest is comprised of over 11,960 acres and much of this land has been made into ATV trails.
This wonderful place is located on State Route 124, just west of the village of Latham. It offers 15 miles of trails to ATVers. It is open from April 1 through November 30, with the hours of 6 A.M. and 11 P.M. daily.
This will be a fun place to go ATVing. The trails wind through the hollows and ridge tops. You and your ATV will be challenged by the ride, but rewarded by the scenery and view. While you are ATVing, you might come across the Anderson Lake. This is a beautiful lake among the hills and trees and a great place to have lunch or even do some fishing (just make sure you have your fishing permit handy - they do check).
All trails for ATVing are marked and the regular speed limit is 30 mph, if not, signs will be posted. No parking of the ATV so as to block the trail or obstruct it in any way is allowed. If you stop your ATV, be sure to pull it off the trail.
One thing you must keep in mind, the forest is open for hunting too. Always check to see if it is hunting season in this area before you ride your ATV on any trails. If it is, make sure you are wearing bright orange. The hunters must be able to tell you apart from the animals they are hunting. A whistle also helps, in case you are off your ATV or simply stopped. A cell phone is good to have in case of an emergency and a first aid kit would be a could idea also to take along on your ATV ride.
