To get there, take Highway 247, about 55 miles southeast of Barstow (CA) or about 25 miles east of Victorville California. Most ATVer's, access the area off Camp Rock Road driving north off of Highway 247. Staging for many competitive events is at Anderson Dry Lake, about 10 miles north of Highway 247 just east of Camp Rock Road. You can also get access north of Highway 247, driving east toward Yucca Valley, at Bessemer Mine Road.
This is one big place. It has 189,000 acres of outstanding trails, narrow canyons,flat dry lakes,sand dunes and a bunch of twist and turn trails. It takes you through low rocky mountains, with huge rock slabs,and ruins of historic mines. While riding your ATV, you will see range cattle, and a wide variety of desert animal and plant life. This is the kind of place, all ATVer's look forward to running.
When going out to these trails, safety takes president over everything else. This can be a very dangerous sport, so following the rules and using good "ole" common sense are esential in ATVing.
Make sure you do a maintenance check on your ATV. It must be in top running order. The worst thing is for something to happen to it, while out on the trails. If something like this were to happen, having a cell phone would come in handy.
Never ride alone, make sure you use the buddy system. Always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back. This is very important, for these trails are long and go deep into the mountains. Saftey, common sence, and certisy towards others, will make for a fun time on your ATV.
