ATV maintenance isn't rocket science, but it is good sense. A good time to check over your ATV, is to get in the habit of doing pre-ride inspectionsNothing will spoil your good time riding your ATV than mechanical problems and in most cases those problems could have been prevented with a little maintenance.
Check your owner's manual for items on your ATV that need to be lubricated, adjusted or checked for wear. Check over screws and see if any need to be tightened. Pay special attention to your tires. Your ATV tires will take a lot of punishment and keeping them in good repair and with the proper pressure is critical to your safety.Check the tire pressure before each trip. Make sure to use a gauge made specifically for ATVs. Tire pressure must be equal on both sides or it will pull to one side.Other points to look over on your ATV include:
Throttle
Brakes
Clutch
Foot shifter
Spark plugs
Drive chain or drive shaft
Steering system
Engine stop switch
Shocks
Lights
A little time spent on preventative maintenance will prevent you from sitting on the sidelines with a broken down ATV in the future!
