If you live in Colorado and you ride an ATV, you would be richly rewarded to look up the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition (COHVCO). They work very hard to represent, assist, educate, and empower ATV/OHV recreational riders in the safe use of and protection the off highway riding areas throughout Colorado. COHVCO is an environmental organization that advocates and promotes the standards put forth by Treadlightly to help preserve the lands for the enjoyment of future ATV riders.
Such as how to navigate your ATV over muddy terrain so as not to impair the integrity of the land, leaving no trace of your ride, when to open up new trails to allow old trails to reclaim themselves so future generations of ATV riders will have just as wonderful of an exploration experience as you and your ATV have in the present.
COHVCO does a lot of volunteering and monetary donations to support legal efforts to protect ATV riding privileges in Colorado. They spend a lot of time of energy fighting unfair legislation that would deny ATV riders the right to ride.
Somewhere in all of this ATV/OHV activism, they find time to participate in road clean ups and trail rides. This is a great group that promotes safety, good riding practices, and community service.
