Much like Wyoming ATV riding, Montana ATV riding offers so much. A great place to explore is Beaverhead National Forest has over 400 miles of trails that ATVs can use. With dense forest on each side of your trail it's easy to get turned around and a little lost. There are some great trail maps available, they are usually only a couple of dollars and well worth the price. And remember, for safety's sake, always tell people where you are going riding, stick to your trail, as with any forested area, please be aware of the potential for animal encounters and learn the appropriate avoidance techniques; and never,ever ride alone.
Flathead National Forest there are over 1,700 miles of roads and trails to seek out. The mountains in this area were carved out by ancient glaciers and then dense forests grew around those hills and valleys. There are thousands of trails to explore on your ATV. Helena National Forest has thousands of trails of Montana's finest ATV trails to seek out, and the degree of difficulty is contingent on how much ATV riding experience you have. Check with the Ranger's Office to insure which trails are open when you plan on visiting and once again, spring the extra bucks for a map, you'll be so glad you did.
Lolo National Forest has over 2500 miles of trails on the Lolo National Forest for you to explore and enjoy. ATV trails range from the valley bottoms to the tops of the mountains, from urban areas to undisturbed wild lands, and from gentle terrain to the ruggedness of the Northern Rockies. ATV riding in Montant is wild, untamed, and a whole lot of fun!
