Are You Overlooking The Most Important ATV Equipment for Kids?
When you get started thinking about ATV equipment for kids, helmets, boots and safety training courses are probably the first things that come to mind. But, there is an even more important piece of ATV equipment for kids that many parents and guardians overlook, the ATV itself. And by stumbling over this first and most important feature, many of us needlessly put our own children at risk.
If you're under the impression that ATVs are a one-size-fits-all piece of equipment, you could be dangerously wrong. When it comes to kids and ATVs, size definitely matters. In fact, there are industry recommendations for the size an ATV should be depending upon the age of your child. To be effective, ATV equipment for kids needs to be customized to their needs.
For children under and up to 6, you should probably stay between the 49-70cc range. For kids aged 6-15 stick to an ATV between 70 and 90ccs. It isn't until a child reaches the age of 16 that you should allow them to drive an ATV bigger than 90cc.
Of course, there are other necessary components when it comes to ATV equipment for kids: a properly fitting helmet with protective eye coverings, jeans and shirts that offer optimum body coverage and close-toed boots or shoes. In addition to these things, another indispensable part of ATV safety is proper training and instruction on how to use an ATV.
When you add all of these things together, you'll be offering your children a double blessing: the fun of riding ATVs and the safety of knowing that they are as protected as possible from accident and injury.
