Planning Your ATV Trip

If you own an ATV, sooner or later you're going to want to do a little traveling. There are a myriad of great off-road destinations to choose from and with a little bit of planning and preparedness, you can have a great time riding your ATV and exploring new places.

Plan your ride using the most current maps and GPS coordinates available. Trails get closed off and sometimes change. National Forest Areas get closed off periodically to let the forest reclaim itself.

The internet has some fantastic research resources available for finding a guided ATV tour in your area or in an area you wish to visit. Let someone else lead the way and enjoy the ride! You can look up trails, read reviews written by other ATV riders, and get a real feel for where you want to go on your ATV trip.

Do some preventative maintenance on your ATV - check for anything that needs to be tightened, adjusted or oiled. Make sure you pack tire sealant and other emergency items "just in case".

When you finally decide on a date, time, and destination for your ATV trip, make sure to give someone else the information of where you are going and a run down of your itinerary. It's just good sense to always err on the side of safety. Have a great trip and take lots of photos to remember your first ATV trip!
