Kids ATV Safety Concerns
Kids love to ride ATVs that's a fact. Kids aren't always the most reliable for policing their safety, that's also a fact. ATVs can be a safe and fun activity for kids and adults alike if proper handling is learned and safety rules are followed.
Most ATV safety is common sense and it starts with proper attire. The National Children's Center on Rural and Agricultural Safety makes a great case for helmets with their report that lack of helmet use is the biggest cause of serious injuries among young ATV riders. That fact alone should help you instill in your young riders to always wear a helmet.
Protective body garments are a must as well. As kids grow, make sure their gear is well fitted and not worn. When dealing with safety equipment, this is no time to be frugal. Good quality, well made safety gear is worth the price when you consider the alternative.
You should also check out your local ATV clubs or ask your ATV dealer to refer you to someone in your area. Take ATV classes with your kids, even if you think you know everything there is to know about ATV safety, you're sure to learn a thing or two. ATV riding is great for kids and being safe will make the good times even better!
